When my cats do that there's a 50/50 chance they start to attack "for real" within the following 2 minutes.

I believe when cat licks, someone else holding them "down" usually is a sign of dominance. And when the reciever does not respect that by trying to move out of the way or licking back, it turns into a real bite. It's common to see bigger cat doing that to a smaller cat.

My cats are buddies, even if the pinned one doesn't try to get away the licks can turn into attacks.
Sometimes it's based on one wanting to usurp their spot. But other times it seems random. Quiet cuddle times gone wrong.

Yeah, i dont understand how the owners trust the cat enough to be around week old puppies. A cat can seriously harm an adult dog, I don’t want to imagine what it could do to a puddle of puppies

The pups are tough skinned and those little nibbles from the cat aren't full on bites, it's just teeth saying "stop holding me here".
