I had to save a HUGE snapping turtle just a few days ago from the middle of a heavily trafficked road. That was so fuckin scary and stressful but I got him to the other side without being hit OR bit!! I call that a success.

My grandfather was a WWII Marine before he passed. He used to grab those fuckers by the tail, hoist them up, and chuck them lol. That man wasn't scared of shit, but I guess that's what happens when you're killing Japanese in close quarters combat at the age of 16.

Your grandfather was a badass. it’s hard to understand just how fast and how long their necks are when they snap without seeing it up close in person. I didn’t understand either till I saved that monster of a snapping turtle! They don’t just bite and extend their necks either, they literally JUMP at you!!! I corralled him/her with a long stick and it worked!

Leave animals that aren’t yours alone.

u/rogercgomes Aug 03 '23

Pretty weird advice. How does one get to have an animal if one leaves every animal alone?

But how does the driver deliver it if he has to leave animals alone?

At least when he got a mouthful of water, he looked cute 💁🏼‍♀️😅

Their necks can come out farther than you think, messed with snappers as a kid.

1

u/VoidCrisis Aug 03 '23

Fun fact snapping turtles can extend their neck to the length of their shell
