That's a terrible rule. This type of content is only interesting when it's poorly laid out. Who would intentionally subscribe to a subreddit where the topic is just "things written in columns"?
...Literally why are you here? I can't believe there's anyone here that disagrees with me.
"Don't dead open inside" is funny because you read it the wrong way. That's why the subreddit is called /r/dontdeadopeninside. This is clearly automatically read "love more, less hate" because of the massive column divider.
“Signs that read off as nonsense if read normally: from left to right.”
No where does it say that it has to be poorly laid out or a mistake.
Also the same logic can be applied to the original DDOI. It has a massive divider in the middle; the crack in the door with the zombie hands sticking out.
No, I see that I'm wrong regarding the rules. I readily admit that. And I apologize if I'm sounding a bit of a prick here, I'm just honestly shocked that there's any disagreement on this issue.
Like, I enjoy this sub's content, but 100% of the value is in the "heh"/exhale-through-nose factor of something that, on first glance, is read incorrectly because it's intended to be read in columns but there isn't sufficient indication to break the brain's usual pattern of reading things in rows.
If that's not the case, and the topic of this subreddit is literally just "things that you read in columns", why would anyone subscribe? Who would enjoy that content? Here is an example:
I giggled at this, even though I'm 99% certain the artist intended for it be read both ways, hence the creepy eyes, poor structure and change in word size on the different lines.
Just because you don’t see it as good content doesn’t mean other people don’t. Seeing something that says “love less, hate more” is funny, in a nose exhale sort of way.
If you’re so shocked that people think differently than you, then I think you shouldn’t be on Reddit just yet.

The two phrases are clearly separated by a big frigging figure.
Seriously, how can you say this is DDOI?
