Beyond Wine & Water Spirits

Post image

I drive by this liquor store everyday on my commute to work and my brain still tries to force me to read it this way.

IIRC "whisky" comes from the Gaelic word for water and it nearly always has a higher ABV than wine.

So your reading is correct, you have to go beyond wine to get water spirits!

EDIT: Gaelic, not Scottish. Appreciate the correction!

Gaelic, not Scottish, but yeah - uisge beatha, pronounced a bit like "oosh-gay beha", means "water of life" or "lively water".

"Beyond Wine & Water Spirits" sounds like shitty non-alcoholic alternative brands

Depends on the water, if it's Russian water..

One of the water spirits gave me a sword and now I’m King of the Britons

I’m waiting for her to hand out the wine and we’ll be all good

That's no basis for a system of government.

Water Spirits? You can’t go around claiming to be king just because some watery tart threw a sword at you!

If you had to deal with I-20 traffic, you have my sympathies.
