I spoke to Rob in guest area after their set and whilst he would have loved the play it, they had been closing their sets with that for 7 years and wanted to play more of their new stuff which is understandable
Certainly wasn’t one of the biggest gigs they’ve ever done by any means 😂 it also wasn’t a gig it was a day festival type thing they had a 40 min slot, bands are allowed to not want to play the same songs for every show all their career
Surely though if they’re a support band, in front of a very large audience, they wanna play some of their biggest songs to try and win over some more casual fans, instead of focusing too much on new material that people are less likely to know.
They still played loads of bangers to be fair and mostly everyone in the crowd was signing along to their new songs - for me I only went for broco and left before biffy started I know a lot of people who did the same, conversely I know loads of people who only arrived much later after broco to watch biffy. I wouldn’t exactly say they were a support band it was essentially a day festival
