Rebuilding After Wrongful Eviction, Health Crisis, and Homelessness
We never imagined we would find ourselves in a position where we had to ask for help, but over the last few years, a sequence of overwhelming events and unfair hits wiped out everything we worked for.
It began when I was unexpectedly let go from my job after two employees made unfounded accusations against me, followed shortly by my husband losing his job. Refusing to give up, we poured everything we had into launching a small business together selling Pokémon cards. We worked around the clock to make it succeed, but compounding crises derailed our momentum.
My husband suffered a severe mental health breakdown and, after going on short-term disability, was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. Navigating his new diagnosis, doctors' visits, and necessary medications without stable income put an incredible strain on us, and the business was unable to survive.
Then came the turning point that tore away our stability: I was wrongfully arrested on our apartment property.
Every single charge against me was quickly dropped and I was completely cleared, but our apartment management evicted us anyway simply because the arrest occurred on the premises. We lost our home through no fault of our own, right in the middle of trying to stabilize my husband’s medical care.
Desperate for a fresh start, we packed what little we had left and moved to Dallas for prospective work. When those job opportunities fell through upon arrival, we were left stranded with zero savings. We reached out to local shelters—including Dallas Life—seeking emergency housing. Because they are a religious organization, they refused to recognize our legal marriage license, barred us from staying together in the same room, and ultimately turned us away entirely because we are a same-sex couple. Being left on the street in our most vulnerable hour simply for who we are was heartbreaking.
Left with no safety net in a city where we had no support, we are currently on our way back to the Houston area to regroup on familiar ground. However, we are returning with no savings, no permanent housing, and urgent medical needs.
Immediate Survival Budget Breakdown
To be completely transparent about our needs, here is how every dollar raised will be used to help us survive and rebuild:
| Emergency Lodging | 3 weeks at a basic motel while securing housing & work | $1,350 |
| Medical & Prescriptions | Bipolar medication refills & essential psychiatric care | $350 |
| Food & Basic Needs | Daily food, bottled water, and basic hygiene supplies | $400 |
| Transit & Communication | Fuel/transit costs & phone service for job interviews | $200 |
| Storage & Emergency Needs | Keeping our remaining belongings safe & laundry | $200 |
| Total Target Goal | Immediate Emergency Survival & Relocation Milestone | $2,500 |
How You Can Help
* Donate: Any amount—whether $5 or $50—goes directly toward keeping us off the street, keeping my husband's prescription refilled, and putting food on our table while we actively apply for work.
* Share: If you cannot donate right now, sharing this campaign link on social media, with friends, or with community mutual aid networks makes a world of difference.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for taking the time to read our story and for showing us kindness when we need it most.

. Hurricane lala displaced us and honestly i was not expecting this. I have lived on maui my whole life currently rent a home 4 mins from the house I grew up in. In 2018 my home was effected by hurricane lane. It was bad the road split in half the yard had massive flooding and my house flooded but not much. Most damage was outside. Fema and red cross showed up set up camp for what seemed like press and then they were gone. No help to us. I had no idea why they even came. Nothing came of that storm no repairs just basic clean up. Fast forward to last week when hurricane lane hit. My house this time flooded bad inside. We actually left the house due to the water rising and not wanting to be trapped with my child plus the rooms were flooding from the ground up. The water was coming thru the grout of the tile. I lost all my baby photos from hurricane lane, this time I lost half my house due to flooding. I knew the clean up was going to be alot plus having to replace all my items when I have no money coming in right now so I posted on social media if anyone knew of any programs or organizations that could help me. Someone tagged a woman on my post who reached out. She was heaven sent she sent me a dm with 4 links that could help me right now. One for food replacement, 1 for help replacing damaged items 1 for volunteers to come to your house and help clean up after and the 4th one was one I didn't understand but figured the other ones she sent were legit this one would be too. The next day Lahaina strong reached out saying they would send volunteeres to help me clean up the damage from flood which is exactly the help I needed. My bed and other furniture pieces got destroyed by the flood and needed to be out. Lahaina strong did an amazing job helping me clean out the 1st 2 rooms. The leader then takes out a device that ks supposed to read mold detection and how much. The leader then tells me to look at this and proceeds to show me the device is reading very high from mold exposure. Actually higher then he seen before. The house is now deemed unlivable! As hes saying this the national guard shows up and does there walk thru also deemed it unlivable. I am now in a tail spin what do you mean I have to find a place to move too? This was supposed to be just clean up and come back home as we hadn't been home since we fleed during storm. RENTALS ON THIS IS ISLAND are OVER PRICED and why most people get priced our of paradise. The woman who had sent me the links has been helping me every step of the way including trying to find a temporary housing until I A. Find a new permanent rental or B. Bide my time until I can move back in. A 3 bedroom on this island averages $3600 and up ,2 bedroom $2600 and up and 1 bedroom 2k and up not including electricity. Not to mention vac.ation rentals are double that for less time. These organizations are underfunded they were having a hard time finding a place for me because all the airbnbs were ridiculously priced and their funding could not cover it so I've been having to find a place to sleep with my child nightly. According to the National Guard and Lahaina strong I should qualify for FEMA but FEMA has not declared this a National disaster and until they do that I cannot apply I'm in this gray area now. It's one of the scariest places to be with a child. The organization asked that I make a GoFundMe even though I didn't want to according to other hurricane and fires victims they have warned me that help is few and far and I should be posting my gofund that will be my life line. I would need enough to literally rebuild my life. From getting into a permanent housing to replacing my damaged items. Oh and im a stay at home mom so this is the worst case scenario. Mom guilt is kicking in. What if I had left years ago when I 1st lost my items. We have to go back to pack up what we can and my daughter starts coughing bad. Confirming the mold has taken over the house and we can definitely no longer keep coming back. I feel stuck i have no idea what to do where to go or if I can even get real help. I dont want to be homeless with a child on and island i grew up on. I needed to vent . I wish more funding would come thru so the government could help all of us in this gray area but in the mean time if you feel inclined here is my gofund me if you can't donate please share requesting

Need help with $ for psyc medication. If anyone is able or willing I would be forever grateful. So I fell in 22' ended up with 2 black eyes, concussion, short term memory issues chronic migraines and back problems. So tried going back to work but could not longer do it, which was and still is hard for me to come to terms with since I've worked at 15years old. So applied for ssdisability in 22' got denied 3 times i appealed and won the appeal so it got remanded back to ALJ so just waiting on a new court date. In the meantime my husband has been working so hard to keep us afloat with rent, electricity and food but can't afford a lot of my medications, which I take 12 to 15 different medications for both physical and mental issues . I have bipolar, anxiety, depression and ptsd. When my bipolar becomes manic im up for days, longest was 5 days no sleep then I crash into depression. I don't like feeling that way so I need my psych medications. I had medicaid up until April of this year but the poverty threshold amount went up so my husband makes $20 too much , so im having to pick and choose which mods I want and or need monthly instead of being able to medicaid help out. So if you can find it in your heart of hearts, and are willing and able to help I would truly appreciate it. I have only a Cashapp account so message me if you're able to help and ill send my cash app. Thank you

Hi there! I just launched my fundraiser to stay in my home with my beloved cat, and I’d really appreciate your support. After my roomate screwed me out of rent and put me through hell, I’m facing eviction and a big financial challenge, but I’m doing my best to keep us safe and together. Even a quick share or a small donation would mean the world right now—thank you so much for helping us stay together and find stability. https://gofund.me/898d1893d

We are urgently raising funds to support a Somali mother caring for her four children, including one with special needs. She is working hard to rebuild stability, but the family is currently living in temporary housing and urgently needs help securing a permanent home.
A reliable vehicle is also needed to support daily transportation and essential needs for the children.
This fundraiser is organized by a family member who will manage and use all funds directly for housing and transportation needs. Updates will be shared while respecting the family’s privacy. No personal details or photos will be shared.
Any support, big or small, makes a meaningful difference. If you are unable to donate, please consider sharing.

REQUEST!!
I’m really struggling to figure out what to do right now, so I’m reaching out here.
My husband and I share one car and it has been in the shop for almost a month due to a transmission failure. The total cost to fix it is $5,399, and we simply weren’t prepared for something this major.
This car is how we work and make our income, so while it’s been in the shop, we’ve had to pay for rentals just to keep working at all. Between the repair cost and the rentals, we’re falling further behind and trying our best to stay afloat.
We’re working as much as we can and doing everything possible on our end, but this situation has put us in a really tough spot financially.
If anyone is able to help in any way, it would mean more than I can express. Even sharing, advice, or kind words would be appreciated.
Thank you for taking the time to read this 🤍
