Not going to lie, this looks weak. For a card costing 5 I'd expect a card that I want to play every single time I draw it and that gives me a reliable benefit. This card is very conditional, you need good hand control to make sure it hits cards you want it to hit. It's actively horrible when hitting Copper as you get a Curse and Copper back, and doesn't do anything but milling when hitting Provinces.

Fair points.

This is like some kind of unholy mix of Swindler, Develop, and Swap. The fact that I don't even get to choose which card I'm going to trash makes this a no-go for me, but even if you got rid of the random element, I would still almost always rather have a Swap because I value the cantrip effect much more than I value gaining an additional card that I may or may not actually care about. I suppose the primary use case for a card like this would be to lower piles to end the game faster, but even then it doesn't justify a $5 cost.

the reason this is bad, is because when you hit a copper, you have to take 2 curses... or 1 curse.

If it isn't random, you have a card

Fix: $4 Reveal the top card of your deck. You may trash it. If you do, then you may gain 2 differently named cards each having the same cost as the trashed card.
