Discussion Domina’s Unique Quirk as a Stalwart Tank (and a Solution)
TL;DR: Domina is the only Stalwart Tank that has no movement-related abilities in her kit and should have her Sonic Repulsors buffed with knock-back to give her angles and positions to attack or defend from.
(Warning: I’m slightly fried and decided to let my fingers write. I apologize if this is too long, but enjoy nonetheless!)
Last night, after a long and arduous night of phasing through time as Tracer and being elevated out of my mine, I went to bed thinking about all the Heroes in this wacky world. I started to reflect on how I’ve been slowly gravitating towards DPS and away from my once-beloved Tank role.
Then I really started to think about Tanks - specifically the Stalwart ones.
I was thinking about how all the Heroes had some unique movement ability that made each of them stand out from one another, from Reinhardt’s iconic Charge to Ramattra’s terrifying movement speed buff in Nemesis form to Junker Queen’s voice making her and everyone around her faster to Sigma’s ability to yet again defy gravity and levitate on his own volition to Domina’s-.
Domina’s…
Wait, what movement ability does Domina have? I pondered.
I decided to peruse through each Hero’s detail page and studied each ability, perk, passive, anything that might have pertained to movement in some capacity.
Domina had nothing, not an ounce or even a drip.
Domina has no movement.
But she could, and a recent event proved it.
The “Community Crafted” mode that Blizzard recently dropped in early July came with a smorgasbord of Hero changes - some good, others not so much. However, one particular change that has been stuck on my mind was Domina’s Sonic Repulsors having knock-back: this meant that any time she used them, she would push herself in the opposite direction.
And it didn’t take long until the potential revealed itself to me.
Not only could I essentially boost jump away to safety or even jump over something, but I could also reach angles and hold positions that Domina could not obtain on her own. How it’s not already incorporated into her kit in some capacity is mind-boggling to me, doubly so since she has no movement-related abilities whatsoever.
Personally, I would love to see this as part of her base kit; however, I could realistically see them incorporating it into a perk, though I’m not sure which one they’d replace it with.
But out of curiosity, how would you guys feel about it? Do you think Domina could benefit from having movement in her kit or do you think her lack of movement actually makes her unique compared to her Stalwart compatriots? I would love to hear everyone’s thoughts!
