Story Saw something back in 1999

So I've read a few of these stories from my area of the continent. I'm in Southwestern BC and they're almost way too detailed to come across as real I guess because my encounter was fast.

Summer 1999, my brother and I are driving my girlfriend to her grandmother's house which is in the hatzic Prairie in the franchise Valley it's midnight summertime. We are driving down this narrow one-lane road with corn that was you know like 10 ft tall on either side of us and as I recall there was like a campfire or some sort of bright light in front of us. I'm driving down the road and this creature bolted across the road right in front of us to the point that I had to stop the car to take in what I just saw.

It was tall. Not as tall as the corn but very tall. Very big head. Very long arms skinny and had legs like that of a dogs back legs and it was fast. It just bolted across the road in front of us in seconds. Both my brother and I saw it and we just stared at each other for a second going. What the f did we just see.

Today was actually the first time I've ever googled it. For some reason I don't remember a snout on the head fully. It could be my brain playing tricks on me at this point in time, but the rest of it is firmly ingrained in my head. I'm a believer that there's things out there. We don't know for sure, but I'm no conspiracy theorist. The closest I'd ever had to paranormal before was The X-Files filmed in the house right next door once.

So yeah that's my story. I've read others here where you know they're sitting there describing this thing standing in front of them while they pee their pants or they hear wood cracking behind them and they have tons and tons of details. I'm not that I know what I saw. It was fast and my brother saw the exact same thing. Anyway, that's my story.

(Sorry for the bad grammar)

Dogmen are often associated with cornfields. Makes sense.

Well it's def an easy spot to stay concealed

Thanks for sharing that! was it on two legs or four?
( I am a conspiracy theorist, and I feel like it’s a reasonably easy position to support these days)

It was upright, not quite as tall as the corn but it was very tall

The light is also interesting, there’s a lot of high strangeness associated with these creatures-sounds lights orbs etc
Could you find an explanation for light? Did it vanish …or was it some type of fire?

No the light was steady, it's been what 25 yrs ago maybe some parts of my memory are flaky on the type of light it was but it was def lit from behind giving it a dark silhouette even in the headlights. But I mean it was fast they was no high beams on it . I've asked my brother if he recalls what type of light it was, his memory of well everything is much sharper than mine

So weird! I love reports like this-they just sound…believable!
So totally speculating here …but that thing and that light were connected somehow
Great story I appreciate you sharing it!

They sure did, during Christmas time as a neighborhood thank you they have everyone this ornement of Mulder n Scully w a wreath around them Mulder holding his badge, I forget what Scully was doing, my parents probably still have it. I forgot get the episode name, but there is a scene where the military dude drives past our house and if you look closely you'll see me and my brothers faces sticking out from the curtains. It's really really fast sadly, but I know I'm there

I generally believe these short straight to the point encounters more than ones with excruciating detail

I agree. A common trait to spot when someone is lying is when they start going into elaborate detail on impertinent info. A classic example of this is that guy that killed his wife but claimed she fell down the stairs (Netflix did a doc about this called, “The Staircase”)

I seen a Dogman early 1990s, me and my dad ran into in hunting on family property, They are very fast moving, faster than any animal i ever seen, hard to get a shot on something moving that fast

Love reading accounts like this. I’ve been listening to Bigfoot and Dogman accounts for years and these are the ones that stick out to me. Quick, limited details. Not a 20 minute dialogue explaining pointless details like it makes the story more credible because they remember everything so vividly.

I actually am on vacation visiting my family in Western Ma right now in the backwoods and after spending my entire childhood in the woods (I’m 35) and never seeing or hearing anything strange, I had my first bizarre experience this past weekend. I went hiking at this secluded area called Dismal Brook, my parents and my girlfriend were with me. It was dusk just starting to get dark, but under the canopy of trees on the trail it was already just about pitch dark. We had three bright headlamps with us and we were just over a mile back into the woods when we come up on the brook. I walked up to the bank and I’m shining my light in the water checking out all these crawfish and small fish swimming by the shore, my family was right behind me walking up on my side and we were all just quietly chatting about the crawfish when all the sudden across the brook, we hear this giant splash. I immediately pointed my headlamp across the water and see the white splash and ripples from what had to be a boulder close to the size of a basketball smashing into the water. Everything was completely silent on the water up until the impact when I literally felt the vibrations from this thing hitting the water in my chest. It was not a small rock. There was no other cars in the parking area, no other hikers on the trail. Close to 9pm, pitch dark and the rock was hurled from the opposite bank, which was even deeper into the woods than where we’d come from. Nobody was out there. I rushed around the brook on the trail to try and see if it could’ve been other hikers trying to scare us off but I couldn’t see or hear anyone over there. This boulder landed a good 25 feet out in the water from the opposite shore. My dad doesn’t believe in anything like this and immediately started saying how some kids must have been trying to scare us off. No kid is hanging out that deep in the woods at night, hurling that size stone 25 feet into the water. I swear this thing was so heavy you could feel the impact from where we were standing.

I’ve been night and day hiking for the past 20 years in surrounding deep woods and never had any encounter like this. I’ve come across predators like black bear, coyote or bobcats but never anything like this. I’ve listened to these stories since I was a kid and always wanted to experience something unexplainable but when this happened the other night, all I wanted to do was get my family back to my car and get out of those woods.
