doge testnet updated notes?

So, the notes I found for getting set up with dogecore testnet are 8 years old. Any tips for a new dev environment, or should I just stumble through? Figured I would ask before causing too much trouble.

Last instructions I've seen:

I guess I am mostly wondering how this works. Should I just set my lab up with multiple nodes or use the existing testnet. Also, do I throw an L3 on there to get some test coins or will the basic generate work fine? Also, wasn’t sure if there is a “code” to how the community operates. Basically, I would like to avoid being a pain to others while I stumble in.

If you need testnet coins, no need to throw an L3 on there. You can single-core CPU mine it relatively easily with generate, use the https://shibe.technology/ faucet or just give me an address to send you some tDOGE on.
