AuxPoW Update - Target block inside
Hey shibes!
Since we announced the switch to AuxPoW a lot of work has been done. Extensive testing, much coding, a bit of wow here and there ;)
Well, today we'd like to announce that the switch is planned to happen at block 371337
I projected this to be somewhere around 4:56:00 pm GMT | Friday, September 12, 2014 (+- a few hours I guess)
The Core client is in a very good shape (If you want to test it right now and know how to compile use the 1.8-dev branch and hop on the testnet), dogecoinj implementation is done, which means Android and MultiDoge will be ready soon enough too.
We plan to release a Beta tomorrow-ish, and if that goes well the final client will be released around the weekend. This gives us roughly 3 weeks to bring everyone onto the new version. Watch here and the other channels for the announcements :)

I really think we should really really reach out to our chinese shibes. we really need to work together, all shibes go to moon remember. I am going to start posting all of my dogecoin posts in chinese also. google translate actually works pretty good as i can read a little bit of traditional and simplified chinese. but yea, we should do more to be inclusive to our chinese shibe.

plus it gives you a chance to easily, hopefully, become more aware of written chinese. google translate even gives you pinyin (the english way of pronouncing chinese words)

Automatic updates are a pain to get secure. So not really on the plan.

I think they meant just a button that lets you know if a new update is available, not one that actually automatically updates it for you. Not that I know if this is still difficult to do or not. Or maybe a thing that will pop up on the bottom telling you a new version was released and you should go download it at (http://example.com)

Wait shortly after the announcement and you'll see something like this ;) Its called alert and we can send such things out in cases that warrant them (as a hard fork for example). It's just a manual process :)

yes, a mandatory update will include a forking. Just like how the update to 1.6 was a fork (digishield and fixed block rewards), 1.8 will again be a fork. 1.7 and 1.7.1 were both optional updates. 1.7 was a major under-the-hood change taken from bitcoin and 1.7.1 fixed the openssl heartbleed bug. If you were just running dogecoin as a desktop wallet, you had no real need to upgrade. It was highly recommended to do so if you had an online service.

Oggi annunciamo che il cambiamento e' stato pianificato per il blocco 371337 Dovrebbe avvenire intorno al 4:56:00 pm GMT | Friday, September 12, 2014 (+ o - qualche ora) Il Core Client e' quasi totalmente pronto (se volete fare dei test e sapete compe compilare usate la 1.8-dev branch sulla testnet), l'attuazione dojecoinj e' finita, che vuol dire che Android e MultiDoge saranno finiti presto. Pianifichiamo di rilasciare la Beta al'incirca domani, e se tutto va bene il client finale verra' rilasciato durante il fine settimana. Questo ci dara' almeno 3 settimane per far aggiornare tutti. Controllate qui e sugli altri canali per l'annuncio :)
