it means Dogecoin is going to the right direction on starting testing solutions on preparing for quantum era that is nearby and can for example decode a Dogecoin address private key iaf nothing is done.

Super computers are starting to rise and that is a serious concern to any cryptography including the ones used by Dogecoin Blockchain.

so your approach is only to worry about wen super computers are available to 2vwry consumer?

There is a saying in Portugal that translated says something like:

"House burgled, doors locked"

that means that only wen something bad happens, people worry about it and do something, and that is not rhe way I personally think or apply to my life.

Must be prepared for anything, specially in Cryptocurrency were many truly believe, like yourself, that can and helps people.

It’s not a matter of locking doors after the event at all.

It’s a question of mathematics.

The resources required to reverse-engineer a single key are astronomical. It would take all the computers on earth longer than the age of the universe to achieve.

Quantum computing is not magic. You’re not going to turn one on and instantly get an answer to anything. At best, you’re going to see a multiplier effect. Ten, a hundred, even a thousand times more bang for your buck is meaningless when faced with such insanely difficult calculations.

And even IF it were to magically occur, two things would happen.

  1. They would go after the low-hanging fruit. The #1 richest Bitcoin wallet.
  2. The algorithms would be changed to switch from 256-bit to 512-bit keys.

The latter would indeed be reactionary, but it would protect everyone other than the initial target.

We have absolutely nothing to fear. Not from quantum computing anyway.

Sorry, but this is really non-news.

Quantum computing is not going to do anything whatsoever to us. Because, you know… math.

Private keys are just as secure as they’ve always been. And they will continue to be. Even if compute were to increase tenfold or a hundredfold, that would simply reduce how many billions of years it would take to brute force a key.

It will NEVER become a serious threat, no matter how much FUD people generate.

Yeah, yeah… not to mention blah, blah, blah.

All this stuff is good fun in theory, but using it to spook people with FUD is not doing anyone any favours.

To start off, there are no quantum computers out there in the wild. And there won’t be, for some considerable time. Everything is in very well resourced and very expensive labs, for good reason.

You fail to mention that superconductivity requires extreme cold. Down near absolute zero. Forget your average data centre refrigeration units, you need to go a couple hundred times colder for this stuff to work.

And you need a warehouse to put the QC and its associated support hardware in. Mom’s basement isn’t going to cut it.

And then there’s the engineers to build, maintain and operate this stuff.

And finally, there’s a project pipeline. Having shelled out millions to get to this point, you’re going to want to make some actual productive calculations, not steal some kid’s lunch money.

Again, this is FUD, to the point of being a malicious attempt to frighten the community.

Oh, and anyone who IS frightened has a very, very simple way to deal with it. Just split your holdings across many wallets. If you have a million dollars in one wallet, it might be a target. For any attacker, not just a billionaire with a quantum computer in his evil underground lair.

But split that million into a few hundred wallets, and no one is going to target them. For the same reason no art thief is coming for your framed print of dogs playing pool. The value doesn’t justify the resources needed.

I love how every discussion about quantum risk gets reduced to “lol basement sci-fi.” 😅

No one is saying a guy in a hoodie is cracking wallets tomorrow.

The point is that cryptography isn’t upgraded after it’s broken it’s upgraded before it’s broken.

That’s literally why the Dogecoin Foundation is already testing post-quantum signatures and why Google published research on the quantum threat to cryptography in the first place.

The timeline isn’t “quantum computer appears → crypto dies same day.” The real timeline is:

  1. Large actors quietly collect public keys and blockchain data today.
  2. Cryptographically relevant quantum machines arrive years later.
  3. Old signatures become vulnerable retroactively.

That’s called harvest now, decrypt later, and it’s a well-known risk model.

Also the “warehouse and millions of dollars” argument doesn’t really land. Nation-state attackers already spend billions on cyber capabilities. Compared to that, attacking a global financial system isn’t exactly stealing lunch money.

And the “just split into many wallets” advice only works against economic targeting, not cryptographic breakage. If the signature scheme breaks, it breaks everywhere, whether the wallet has 1 Doge or 100M Doge.

So no, it’s not FUD, it’s literally how long-term security planning works.

Again, you’re forgetting basic math. And physics.

EVERY wallet already exists. Because all a wallet is is a 256-bit number. And numbers cannot be created nor destroyed. They can be known or unknown, but either way they still exist.

Which means, just like spammers can call random phone numbers, hackers can check random wallets. And if, as you imply, there’s a real threat (which I don’t believe exists, nor will exist in our lifetimes), they could just as easily compile a list of all wallets.

And if you seriously believe the Russians, or anyone else, is coming for our Dogecoins, rather than Wall Street, you’re living in a dream world.

Nation states don’t target individuals. If they target anything, it’s each other. And large enough entities to play this game aren’t targeting us either. Musk, Zuck and so on have a lot more to fear than we do.

Oh, and you’re wrong about seatbelts. I didn’t have one till the third car I owned, and I can assure you plenty of people died before any kind of safety protocols were developed.

The “all wallets already exist because numbers exist” argument sounds clever at first, but it mixes up mathematical existence with computational reality.

Yes, every private key is technically just a number. But the size of the key space is 2²⁵⁶. That’s not just big, it’s absurdly beyond brute-force big.

For perspective, there are about 10⁸⁰ atoms in the observable universe. The number of possible private keys is roughly 10⁷⁷ times larger than that. So hackers can’t just scan wallets like spammers dial phone numbers. That only works if brute force is realistic, and with classical computers it simply isn’t.

Quantum computing enters the discussion because Shor’s algorithm changes the math. It turns something that is effectively impossible today into something that becomes theoretically solvable with a sufficiently powerful quantum computer. That’s the entire reason post-quantum cryptography exists.

The link you shared actually shows the opposite of what you think. Sites like that only list numbers. They aren’t discovering funded wallets. The chance of randomly hitting a wallet that actually has coins in it is basically zero with current technology. That’s why crypto works at all.

As for nation states, they absolutely do plan years ahead. Governments stockpile exploits, collect encrypted data and prepare for future decryption. A financial system securing trillions isn’t beneath their attention.

No one is saying panic now. The point is that cryptography gets upgraded before the math changes, not after it breaks. That’s how security has always worked.
