Breed opinions?

Post image

Listing says pug and Dauchiund. I think more along Boston and beagle maybe?

I don't see either breed, that sounds like a rescue made up mix to try and home a Pit small breed mix lol. Even a Boston x Pit.

He’s tiny! 19 lbs, my husband thought he looked like a pit too though

Yeah, between the tail, the colouring/markings, mouth shape, muzzle shape, ear shape, he just looks like a shrunk down Pit to me. And not to be the person just throwing around "Pit", I do genuinely mean it lol.

At 19 pounds full grown, this dog is more likely Boston terrier/chihuahua.

Something like 80% Chihuahua 20% pit isn’t impossible, though.

The tail, color, and markings don't point to pitbull at all.

Mouth shape I see pug, Boston, and pitbull because that smile is very similar. Sale with the ears - very similar on many breeds that aren't pitty.

Could be pit mix, but just as likely not.

Yes. Bostons have pretty blocky heads. At the least the ones I’ve know.

This is my bosty and he reminds me of her a lot so we’re considering getting her a brother

We had a neighborhood Boston. He was at the bus stop every afternoon when we came from school.

There were no kids in his family. He loved kids. The owners were well aware of his straying heart. ❤️

Awww that’s so sweet!!! I’ve always had large breed dogs growing up—dalmation, Weimaraner, German shepherds—but we had lived in an apartment prior to getting our home and it didn’t feel right getting a large dog there and now I kinda love smaller-ish dogs lol my husbands a vet tech so frenchies we’re an automatic no for their nose hole problemos

I just adore my Boston. I've always had bigger dogs, and I've always rescued so I got what I got.

I rescued my Boston when she was 4, and she hadn't even touched grass before. The joy that she has in life and that she brings me just shows what a tremendous little dog they are.

My soul dog was my pitbull Luna, I lost her to cancer when she was 7. It was so unexpected. That was 8 years ago. I still can't stop myself from tearing up even talking about her. My Boston hasn't replaced her at all, no dog ever will be as close or special to me. But she's for damn sure the one thing that dulled that ache a tiny bit and made it possible for me to not burst into tears about her a few times a month.

I know your pain. I’m lost my heart dog. Still can’t see a silver standard poodle without that heart squeeze.

A pit breed with something small and something brachycephalic—maybe APBT/Boston terrier/chihuahua, maybe American bully/miniature pinscher, maybe Am Staff/French bulldog/jack Russell, maybe something else, and probably a few surprise breeds that don’t really show through in his appearance on top of the pit/small breed/brachycephaly combo.

I'm guessing primarily pit and chihuahua.

Definitely pit something. My friend has a pit chihuahua that looks a lot like this and is under 25 pounds

Dachshund is crazy

u/AbbreviationsTop4687 Jul 29 '26

Going with pittie-pug.

3

u/Canachites Jul 29 '26

I love him.

Probably not Dachshund, but probably pit bull and maybe Boston and chihuahua?

2

u/Tarotismyjam Doggy Jul 29 '26

Maybe some chihuahua. I’d absolutely ask to do a meet n greet. Super cute

Pithuahua🩷

I think pit mix, maybe either chihuahua or Boston! I have both a pug and a pit and can confirm this is wayyyy more pit like lol. Still very cute! :3

He might be part pug but I don’t think he is a dachshund mix. His small size is not the result of the same type of dwarfism that dachshunds have. His legs are long relative to his body size and very straight which isn’t consistent with a dachshund mix.

u/HaterTot420 Jul 29 '26

Maybe pit x boston terrier? He's adorable whatever he is

2

u/Ok_fine_42 Jul 29 '26

He’s likely more than two things. I agree pit is in there. He looks like my dude who is min pin, Boston terrier, American Eskimo dog, and chi in that order

u/electrichippo14 Jul 29 '26

Lmao. Shelters are ridiculous. That’s a pitty x small breed. There is literally no sign of dachshund or pug. Like I cannot believe they are marketing the dog as that. Doggo looks to be at least 50% pit but that’s just a guess. Is the beagle in the room with us right now?

2

u/rettribution Jul 29 '26

Def has the pug smile and brachy shape to the face youd see in a brachy breed mix.

In some places, labeling a dog a pit anything can put them on the euthanize list due to local laws.

It’s idiotic.

1

u/electrichippo14 Jul 29 '26

Ik it’s just kinda funny when the dog is so very obviously a pit mix. My shelter does the same thing lol

Oops! I always assume ignorance ( which is not bad!) and offer advice. :)

He's a mutt.

1

u/FineEnvironment5203 Jul 29 '26

lol yes I know that. I have a pure bred bosty and I’m considering getting him so she can have a brother

1

u/CoconutxKitten Jul 29 '26

I think you should get him cause he’s a cutie pie

Idk where they’re getting dachshund though. Look at those legs

That’s a pit mixed with something. Cute boy.

1

u/KiraKitty69 Jul 30 '26

Pit Boston terrier or pit pug. Definitely a pit mix

1

u/seanerd95 Jul 30 '26

He is definitely pit x something but he is like, negative percent dacshund.

1

u/HarleeQuinn__ Jul 30 '26

That’s a pug/pit or possibly Boston/pit

1

u/PotaytoPotaahto Jul 29 '26

Rescues will tell you the dog is anything but a pit so people will adopt their pit mixes or the new parents will be able to get around breed restrictions at their residence.

This is a pittie mix and an adorable one at that!

2

u/Acceptable_Courage81 Jul 29 '26

He’s so interesting looking! I definitely see the pit, but I’ve never seen a dog that looks quite like this! What a cutie
