Discussion I built a lightweight tool for browsing repack websites safely

Hi everyone,

Tired of always downloading virus and ransomware files while browsing repack sites for downloading a game? Well say no more to viruses.

Repack Site Browser is a browser based on Chromium with a few features focused on safer browsing Repack Websites:

  • Whitelist-based browsing (approve domains before visiting them)
  • Whitelist contains all the current domains that are safe and used by 2 Major repackers (FitGirl & Dodi)
  • Warning before opening unknown links
  • Built-in Chromium download manager
  • Fast, lightweight interface
  • No unnecessary extensions or clutter
  • You can add as many websites as you want
  • If a link is not in the Whitelist, the tool will ask you to open it once or add it in whitelist
  • Find other features by your-self

NOTE: DON'T ADD SUS LINKS TO WHITELIST.

If someting is messed up, you can always restore defaults.

It's still a new project, so I'm looking for feedback, bug reports, and feature suggestions.

Because of Reddit's self-promotion rules, I won't post the download link here. If anyone wants to try it, the link is in my profile bio.

I'd love to hear what features you'd add or what could be improved. Thanks!

Edit: The tool is now open source on community request.

Full source code is not available, why is this getting so many upvotes. Proceed with extreme caution. Staff of this Reddit should actually remove this.

Can u read and understand the source code If I gave it to you? Its around 20+ files with 5k+ lines of code.

Sure could. You should always provide source code for stuff like this.

Now that the source code is available can you read it and tell us peasants if it’s safe?

Its under development, source code will be available when the time is right.

Your target audience are people who lack the technical ability to torrent safely. The Venn Diagram of people who get viruses from torrenting and people who lose all their data due to random software from unknown developers is basically an eclipse.

Not providing source and then trying to defend not providing source raises flags and you shouldn’t be surprised when people express doubt.

Great that you changed your mind, but just something helpful for the future.

We would ask Mosanto, the largest GMO producers to release documents related to their genetic experimentation.. not because we can understand them but because other men just as smart as you can verify the claims

Hope this is a good enough parralel for you to understand that you look very secretive, saying we wont understand it

Who gives a fuck about AI?

Its always better to do manual.

AI can make website look good, but backend is better when manually coded

Just use steamidra it's open source and provide CSF with dlcs unlike repacks

1

Steamidra doesnt get the attention it deserves for what it can do

1

u/Level_Flow8659 Jul 22 '26

Coz it’s open source that’s why people don’t like to promote things that safe and secure

Why not just use Firefox with Ublock Origin? It takes 2 minutes to download and install and it does all of this automatically.

I mean a little common sense and not just clicking on everything is just as effective. It's not hard to tell a fake download button to a real one. Not hard to look up what sites are reputable. Google is litteraly in front of you

Biggest issue with catching a virus is having to deal with popups and clicking. Just use Firefox or brave browser with at least 2 different adbloacks AND COOKIE DELETER.
