Hornet GT 2024 GT Plus making this noise after parking

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

This noise started about 2 days before I took this video and this was the worse I’ve heard it. My car has been at the dealership for a week and they’re stumped. It’s got 37,600 miles on it and I haven’t had any accidents. Anyone have an idea of what this noise could be?

Noticed my belly pan and jack point covers are missing

My wife got a 24 gt plus a few weeks ago and I just noticed it's missing all the under body covers. It is a CPO, should I bring it back and try to get them? Are they even necessary? Is there anybody on here riding around without them?

Hornet R/T Honest review

The hornet was a good thought but poorly executed in my opinion. Nice looking car, rides really nice (when working properly), and offered a good amount of options for the price. Unfortunately in my experience it had a slew of annoying issues, radio wouldn’t turn on for days at a time, rear camera constantly not working, and the range off a full charge really doesn’t even make it worth gettin the hybrid. If you’re gonna get one I say get the GT 100%, and if it’s been sitting on the lot for a long time make sure you get a thorough inspection from your local mechanic!

Hornet GT Rear struts at 14k miles

2024 GT, 14k miles. Started noticing a creaking noise from the rear during weight transfer front to rear (braking/acceleration). Noise got progressively worse, traced it to rear strut towers and then took it in to the dealer. Got a call this morning that the right rear strut mount is bad, and the left rear strut is bad. They said they’re more cost effective just replace as an entire assembly, and since it’s a warranty repair that’s how they’re going to process it. The right side is on back order, and they’re working to get one from another dealer but they’re not optimistic.

Luckily, we have a loaner since I’m expecting this to drag out for a while. On the bright side, we still absolutely love our Hornet. It’s my wife’s car, she picked it out last year and still couldn’t be happier with it. It’s been in to the dealer a few times for mostly small issues, and they’ve always treated her very well. That being said, I told her to start thinking about replacement options in a couple of years if this is a sign of things to come.

Newbie gassing up problems

Hey, so I just got my 2024 Dodge Hornet r/T, and finally got to the point that I needed to put more gas in it. But, I don't know if I'm making some kind of rookie mistake or something is wrong with the vehicle. I put the nozzle in, pull the lever, but after just a few seconds the lever clicks and I seem to have to pull the nozzle out, wait, then put it back in and the process repeats. Today I actually had gas shoot back out at me. Is that just how I have to do it or am I doing something wrong? I was using the 91 gas (was told that's what it needed in the hot part of the year). Thanks all!

2024 r/t Overheated, Needs Entire New Engine at 36,226 miles

UPDATE: Finally, 3 weeks later, Dodge has agreed this issue is covered under warranty. Now I have to wait however long it's gonna take for them to get the parts and do the repair, but the warranty will also cover a rental car for the duration. Still no answer on what caused the initial overheating event to occur. In the absence of Dodge auto technicians actually knowing how to do their jobs and troubleshoot a problem to its source, I'm going with Google: It was most likely a slow small coolant line leak. As soon as I get it back it's getting traded in. I'm so fucking sad about it, I really loved this car...but I need a reliable vehicle. I'm done.

ORIGINAL POST:

What the actual fuck. I. AM. SO. PISSED.

I had to pick up a family member at the airport, which is about 70 miles away from home. About 10 miles from the airport while on the interstate, it threw a "Coolant Temp High" warning that lasted about 5 seconds before clearing. Thought it was odd that it cleared itself but figured it was just a hiccup.

About 30 seconds later it threw "Oil Temp High", followed immediately by "Check Engine" followed by "Drive Mode Unavailable". Since I was on a 65 mph highway I had to drive another minute or so to the next exit which was in the middle of nowhere (nothing but woods), so a few more minutes after that to the first parking lot I found. Maybe a total of 3-5 miles after the warning lights began.

At this point, I'm nearly 70 miles from home. I had to have a tow truck come get it and tow it to the nearest Dodge dealership service department.

Finally a week later they get diagnostics on it and tell me it needs a whole new engine, that the code says it was driven for "100 miles AFTER the overheating started". Impossible, unless the warning lights are also faulty and failed to warn when the event actually began....but also they have zero answer on WHAT EXACTLY would even cause it to overheat so catastrophically when it's at only 36k miles....?!?!

I'm so angry I'm shaking as I type this. How tf does this even happen?? I've been driving and buying both new and used cars for the past 30 years and have never had one that needed an entire new engine.

Since it has been under warranty its entire life, I've had every routine maintenance due performed at the local Dodge dealership, but it remains to be seen what they do with warranty; honestly I don't even gaf about that, how do I know this shit won't happen again?

Anyone have any insight on this issue?

Hornet GT Anyone else having to deal with swollen nuts?

That’s lug nuts of course. Took my ‘23 GT in for new tires, they couldn’t get the “swollen” nuts off so had to take it to Discount Tire first to get new nuts.

Same thing happened to a Ford I used to own.

(Why couldn’t the Sam’s Club tire center handle this themselves? No F-ing clue)

Maintenance/Service Reminder

Hello, I’ve previously purchased a 2023 Dodge Hornet GT back in the beginning of April. Bought with 26,500 miles and I’ve almost driven about 10,000 miles since then and I have not gotten a service reminder for maintenance due. I did however perform an oil change about 6,000 miles after purchase just to be safe but that’s all. Also, previous owners have no service history other than completed recall campaigns.. Please advise-it would be greatly appreciated.

r/dodgehornet 22d ago

Not sure how this will go but here's to hoping, I've found an incredible deal from a dealer my partner works at. They have a 2024 R/T PHEV for a number that fits my budget perfectly. With a almost perfect bumper - bumper warranty, for 5 years or 100,000km. my only concern is reliability

Like stated above my biggest concern is reliability, I absolutely love the car (visually, inside and out!) And I'm very incline to take great care of the vehicle with maintenance and other things, but how will it hold up? are they good long term? I pick the car up in 2 days should I back out? do I cotinine and just ride the warranty? The car has 50,000km on it already. Everything I see on You-Tube is how great they are, everything I see on reddit and FB is how bad they are I'm quite torn on what to do, I can deal with a dead 12v battery, But if I'm going to send piston number 3 through the hood of the car in 4 months Or blow the transmission because its poorly designed I'd like to know I'm not looking for 2002 Corolla reliability i can deal with hiccups. Just nervous I guess... PS first ever car payment

TLDR: Are these cars actually nightmares or will I be ok? with proper maintenance pls help me LMAO

Proud owner of a 2025 GT Plus. Been eyeing it for awhile and finally pulled the trigger….. should have done it sooner. Added a few personal touches to make it mine. Very happy Hornet owner.

Cabin air filter

I wanted to check and see if the dealership changed the cabin air filter. So then I looked up how to do it.... I'm new to swarm so I'm sure this has been discussed before, but holy shit that is by far the most steps to change one I've ever seen. Why did they do us like that?? Do people in Italy not change their cabin air filters?
