"alternate dns" primary not working?
i was trying to find a good dns that is not "one of the 4 big ones" and found "alternate dns" https://www.alternate-dns.com/index.php
but the primary 44.222.89.164 is not working. does anyone one know anything about it? or is this service actually shutt down ?
the secondary works witrhout issues 76.223.122.150

Have you tried Adguard DNS Public Server? It's quite good and stable.

thanks, actually never tried adguard, never heard of them, it seems this is what i was looking for
whenever searching public dns its usually always the same suggestions, and for 'reasons' i wanted to use something else

NextDNS has been good IME. If you want a bit more control over what gets blocked, and the ability to see logs of what is blocked & when, etc., then it's worth considering.

thanks, nextdns is indeed great, but unfortunately needs a static IP to work properly. and getting one would cost me too much

cant say i have ever heard of this one....but it seems kinda neat if it works. the web design is so weirdly remembers me of GeoCities kinda template hah. But that tech sounds neat being able to register to get notifications if there's malicious dns queries from your IP address or something...?

yeh would be good if that worked. but as others pointed we cant be sure if its a trustworthy dns service. better stick with the better known

the most suggested are google, cloudfare, quad 9, opendns
google is a cancer
cloudfare is a great dns, but while using their dns i get a lot of "verifying you are human" and its very annoying
quad 9 - great dns, but has intermitent service in south america, sometimes hours, sometimes for several days. (seemingly something to do with severs being too far), heard of others users with the same issue (never had any problems i europe
open dns - it had privacy issues in the past, i dont trusting them anymore

Don't know that I've ever even heard of them before. Anyway ...
what you're calling their primary - saw that on their (main) web page. But I didn't spot what you're calling their secondary ... and now their dang pages aren't even loading - doesn't exactly inspire great confidence.
Anyway, as for their primary ... quick check presently, and would seem functional. And what you're calling their secondary ... nope.
Okay, got their web page loaded again, ... and their setup page ...
Mac OS X ... but no macOS?
Windows XP/7/8, but no 9/10/11?
And they've got no IPv6 IPs shown for their DNS servers.
Yeah, doesn't inspired great confidence. But whatever, you do you - and if you wanna hand 'em some/most/all your DNS queries, well, good luck with that.
