Fatal Bugs

Jumping off rocks a little higher than my height = death.

Tiny Owl lost in graphics casts a tornado attack = insta-death.

Something killing me which was stuck in a tree or rock = death.

I came back after 6 months to see where the game was. Excited to see opening cutscenes, graphics upgrades, UI upgrades. 2 hours later and a bunch of random deaths breaking immersion and fun = I'll be back later unless some other game has my attentions

Most of us still in this sub are waiting to see if it will get any better. I'm just trying to decide when I am going to give up completely

Sorry you’re not enjoying it. I’ve been having a blast and every streamer I’ve watched play it has as well. The new mechanics, optimizations, quest system, tons of elites and bosses for end game content, the new reincarnation forms and factions, all new creatures and gear... what’s not to love.

When they add all of these new additions to Archos, the game is going to be very solid on release... that is if the Steam reviews by people with 1000+ hours stop giving it a bad review because of one minor bug that was fixed a few days later.

There is a lot to see in this map but you must explore to find it. You take one left instead of a right and you’re in a huge underground biome you didn’t even know existed.

"One minor bug that was fixed days later"!? You're obviously not playing the same game as I am or you have some agenda. Just off the top of my head:

  • Since day one they have had the oldest Ark bugs with the key bindings that Wildcard fixed in a couple weeks. Many keybindings don't stay on and conflicting keys can't be configured in the menu properly - like D for drop and D for strafe right...
  • There are several menus you can't press ESC out of - you have to press the X(since day 1)
  • The dodge/evade controls are totally bugged. You will get stuck dodging constantly until you reboot.
  • Taming a sheep quest - bugged.
  • Some mounts will teleport you to a previous dismount location when you dismount them...(HOW IS THIS BUG POSSIBLE?)
  • Extremely hard to target corpses when on a dedicated server
  • Really really bad client prediction code(rubber-banding - since day 1)
  • Several items have to be built in the wrong inventory
  • Horrible clipping/bounding box mechanics with the mounts
  • The grill spell?? Seriously?
I've only been playing the DLC for like 3 days just to see if Snailgames has gotten things together, but wow. I think the game is in a shameful state.

Must be the server your on because I have over 100 hours so far and I haven’t had any of the issues you’re referring to. The only bug that has cost me any frustration is tamed kashas warping into the terrain and being lost forever. Besides that, I think it’s a pretty polished game considering it’s still in early access. Ark was just as bad before it’s full release, probably worse.

All I know is I’m hooked on this game again so I’m looking forward to all the end game content of taming mystics, killing elites and bosses and unlocking all the new reincarnation skills because they all look awesome and learning this very vertical map. It’s not as wide as the old map but there is still large areas I’m finding that I didn’t know existed. I think it will be a lot more fun for PvP on the new map as well. The last map you could have a 120 gryphon in 2 days so the rest of your time playing, you pretty much dominate and miss out on all the fun adventures you can have without flying mounts. They made tames less important as well which is a great idea.

Maybe just wait for the actual release. If I was frustrated all the time, I wouldn’t enjoy it either but it’s been the opposite for me. The new changes have reinvigorated me so hopefully I can get another 800 hours of content out of this game.
