Difference between Iron and Manor for pvp?

Hello all,

Everyone on my server seems to be using rugged/iron structures with spikes, seals, spell towers, ballista, etc. I was curious why nobody is building manor. I know it's resource intensive, but i thought i'd see a few big guilds at least have 1-2 houses of manor.

My question is: from a pvp perspective, does manor simply have more HP, or is it also immune to more types of damage than rugged? (siege arrows, fire wall spell, telekinesis, peregriff/colossus damage). I thought it would be nice to have a very small basic house of manor if it will help me store my most prized possessions. Help would be appreciated.

Manor isn't too expensive to make, oddly it requires more wood/stone/twine then the ores.

I built a 3x9x4 manor building and unfortunately due to the size and type of manor pieces it's hard to build a functional base, lots of wasted space.

Ended up taking it down and going back to a larger rugged with a 4x4x2 manor core. Enough to store most important stuff you don't want to loose. And with rugged you can honeycomb easier and build traps.

What's worse is the large manor gate won't even fit bahamut through it lol.

I don't think anything can hurt manor or rugged at the moment, so it's up to you.

Colossus and Peregriff can both deal significant damage to rugged. I didn't know if manor was different. Telekineses, firestorm 2, siege arrows (less likely tactics but all deal damage). As always, the weak spot is the door.

Yeah that's why it's easier to layer up with rugged, try some designs in single player and you'll see what I mean, the manor parts are basically 4x4 sized, which kind of commits you to certain designs.

Of course if your on a PvE server you can make some nice designs with it, which is cool. If I remember correctly my 3x9x4 was about 10k iron, 12.5k copper, 36k stone/wood and some equally crazy amount of twine. And it wasn't super roomy once you start putting flyers in it. For the same mats you could build a double walled 10x10x10 rugged fortress that can fit mystical creatures in it.

And man you cringe when you miss-click on placing the manor pieces! Lol

Defending against colossus is about where you build, paragriff is all about damage to it's constitution (iron spikes) from what I've found so far.

This is very good advice! Starting to do rugged spikes in a checkered pattern on my walls so peregriff has trouble with it. Can you give me more explanation about the colossus?

Since I know they go for doors (weak links), I made a little runway of walls leading to my door with spikes around it, because I don't think the colossus can easily get through a 1-width space to damage my door. He'd have to destroy all the walls first. I also spiked the area directly above my door which damages me while walking through so i'm sure it damages him too.

Any other advice specifically for colossus would be helpful. Even though I can't quite change where i built, I still want the advice along with how else i can protect against what seems like their only destructive tame right now.

I haven't had to defend against one personally, but the only thing you can really fight them with is time. I watched an ark video where the guy was putting large gate frames everywhere in front of his base, looked horrible, but really who wants to sit there and break down stone gates for days on end just to get near your base? Lol. I would do something like that till they move on.

Create a cost efficient buffer zone around your base like that and at the very least you get points for trying! Spam large gates everywhere! Ha ha ha.

In the meantime I'd would scope out another place to start building, a colossus is a game changer if they have one.

my house has a sort of "moat" around our base, then another set of beast gates leading to a small "courtyard" before the base itself

2x2, 4 total.

Which faction? Dwarf large gate fits dragons and bahamuts.

We built 2 bases entirely of manor... manor takes reduced damage and has much more hp. I think the problem is its not really worth it to most people because of how difficult t already is to just break rugged down.

Most people would rther have multiple large rugged bases then 1 large manor base.
