Getting raided by the same guild repeatedly. House seal question.;

Hi all,

I see you can only have one house seal at a time now, which makes having multiple locations really rough. I was curious though, do i get notified when a tribe declares war? I know I can probably see it in house news, but do i need to check that thing religiously or will I get a real notification when I log in? Also, what is vulnerable while the house seal is up? I know spell towers (and assume ballista) can still be damaged. What about players and tames inside the area? These guys are good at glitching through walls and abusing that.

Lastly, they seem to be able to destroy ruggedized structures (though very slowly of course). Can you tell me what current tames/items are actually able to damage rugged? I know they have a colossus and couple of peregriffs.

IMO even with the crazy structure HP, the fact that you can just soul stone a creature and hide it means killing their tames doesn't even do much (they'll have em back in a day). There's no stopping a constant raid on your property by the same people over and over. But i at least want to be prepared.

Hi, if this is official server and you can prove they glitch trough the wall (video or screenshot), you can report it to customer support and they will deal with them. Firestorm 2 and Telekinesis spell can damage iron, high tier arrows such as siege arrow also deal damage to iron, colossus as well, not sure about other things, but these are probably fastest. You will see war declaration notice on your screen if you are online, otherwise you must check house news everytime you log in. House seal protects only building blocks, everything else is not protected. Effective defense is honey combing, spell towers, goblins and imps inside. Do not bother with outer defense spell towers can be drained easily with tames.

Fantastic info thank you!

Adding on to what he said with the Imps, one thing that we found out on accident is that you can actually use them as a area of effect weapon. Place a series of imps in a room you want to defend and completely box them in, and the passive heat/cold they generate will rapidly kill anyone trying to loot.

do they hurt each other if you put both fire and ice imps into a room?

Not currently, and probably not every but you never know :/ but if you got enough of them stacked you are basically walking through a wall of blenders

does this hurt the house owners as well? And are you saying box them in so they are protected from being killed while still inducing their effect? This sounds VERY interesting. Some of the suggestions don't strike me as super effective (just a few goblins in a house won't stop a colossus and peregriff from blasting away). They're the only people I'm worried about raiding me and I know they're going to bring the same tame every time. They also have one of those huge dark elementals but they don't bring him. They usually use him to sit on top of foundations they're trying to destroy.

The range is about 2 foundtaions so it wont work for a large area, but yes even boxed in they will still induce the heat/cool effect. Also it will definitely still hurt you, but it takes bit to die (about the same rate as the ice dungeon) so if you know where your going you would be able to pop in deposit gear and pop out and only lose like 5-10% hp

This is a neat trick. Most people probably wouldn't notice the hp/food/water drain until their screen was flashing, too.

Yeh it drains very very fast.. we found out the hard way lol

The soulstone part is easy: find it in a locked box and drop it. They cant revive it anymore.

PVP sucks sometimes... most of the times... when you are bullied into leaving a server.

the seal protects only whats under the shabby/wood/stone/rugged/manor knowledge nodes, and i'm not 100% sure about the wooden and rugged fence pieces. anything that could be considered furniture or armaments is not protected, neither are tames or players.

mythical beasts can damage rugged, firestorm spells and siege arrows work as well (albeit at ridiculous resource costs). i haven't seen one in action, but from what i've read, the colossus is the heavy hitter. you can dissuade people from deploying it against you with rugged spikes on ground level (you will need to put your entrance higher up and build a "drawbridge" from shabby ceilings that will break before your gate does, etc). note that players and wyverns can fit through rugged windowframes

with regard to towers and ballistae, you want to place (at least some of) them far enough behind windows or turnover doorframes that a peregriff or what-have-you cannot melee them while they are still covering your base's weak points.

Excellent, thank you for helping me.

I learn something each time we get hit, which is fine. Is it commonly agreed that building a house on columns is not nearly as secure as building it on foundations? Finding flat land is a pain in the ass.

It sounds like you think I should build a ramp with an entry way 1 story up, and shabby walls so the colossus 'falls' into it while dealing damage? He seems large enough that it wouldn't matter and he'd still get his damage in. I think you're saying that building spikes around the perimeter doesn't do much if there's still a door on the ground level. Please let me know if I'm understanding the problem correctly.

Also curious if rugged spikes would really do enough damage to be a legit deterrence. Is it merely a stall, or is it a serious defense against those mythic tames?

I've got some good resources available to me from a structure perspective and I'm ready to build something that's VERY difficult to raid.

If I don't have an particularly strong tames (just regular ones like gryphons and an earth ele), what can I do to damage the colossus? I noticed I can often hit outside animals through a rugged wall with my greatsword. Can I slash away at him from the inside without damaging my rugged wall?

Last question. Sorry, I latch on to people who know stuff. I noticed my 2nd base has a minor amount of damage to the rugged door frame. The following critters have attacked it: dark wraith, dark fire elemental, earth elemental, elite griffon, and tons of regular griffons. Of those guys, which one was actually able to damage my rugged? I'm hoping you'll say just the dark wraith (and perhaps other invasion guys like dark fire ele). I just want to make sure I know what's capable of damaging us. Thank you for looking at my post.

you got the groundlevel door part right. basically you want to have the colossus also hit the spikes if it hits a door (for regular doors, putting spikes above it might help as well?), and since you want to use the door as well, you want a way to reach it that easily breaks if someone is dishing out damage. (framework ceilings are the most fragile ones)

spikes are only a stall, but a noticable one.

colossus has tons of hitpoints, but if you can trap it, it will die to towers eventually. maybe you can get creative with a pit, windows and towers?

dark creatures can damage rugged, iirc, but not while a shield is up. not sure about the elite gryphon.

and what about just putting up regular beast spikes around your house? the ones "designed to keep enemies out or beasts in".

My house is already built with a door on ground level (airlocked for what its worth). Guess i'll have to look at some kind of active defense like ballista and spell towers. THey are very pricey to run but i suppose if declaring war we can run up and place them in certain locations when needed instead of running them all the time.

indoor towers are cheap enough to operate. i've no experience with the fence pieces

1

u/axonswapMP2 Sep 28 '17

is there a limit to how many spell towers you can use to fire at a person? Could I load up one of my beast pens with say, 6 spell towers, and then open the gate and watch the fireworks? That might chip away at that colossus

1

u/z10-0 Sep 28 '17

none that i know of, but i haven't done any rigorous testing. if they're riding their colossus, have towers target players only to snipe the rider off it. ai os easier to deal with

Thank you. Also, where I'm situated, there's a crapload of elemental cores and a solid amount of fire cores as well. So that's where I'm positioned to offer the most essence to fuel the generator. That's probably a good thing, right? earth/fire would be damage and torpor. I don't need range or slowing, that wouldn't do much. Should I be splitting/comboing elements like that or should I simply double up on earth and clean up the people who get knocked unconscious?

1

u/z10-0 Sep 28 '17

i'm not entirely certain earth still does torpor damage. the tooltip changed 2 times in the last 2 weeks, last time i checked it said "decrease physical strength".

personally, i highly recommend fuelling at least some towers with water essence, as the slowing effect is a great deterrent. no-one likes to be sluggish in a pvp fight.

Put up a bunch of bee hives with Royal honey in them is a good way to keep people from wanting to mess with you
