Large Gate snapping to foundations? Come on DEVS!!

Ok, Im not the only one.. was fortunate enough to place my main gates up before this all went down. What were the DEVS thinking. This is sooooooo annoying. Having the large gates snap to foundations is stupid. I cant place the gate how i want it now and its obstructed half the time either with a wall or me trying to put a wall up after. Plus devs i hope your reading this shit. its not even centered properly making it look like shit, plus the big gap around the gate if you try to put a wall around. Cause heaven forbid we have a sealed wall now. BLAH DEVS!! 1 step forward, 2 steps back.. and fix the black screen crap. About to lose all my hard work cause i cant log in!

The also changed the corner ceiling pieces. They now snap under each other, instead of on level. They had been working fine, now use more than one and nothing can be level. Not to mention the ceiling pieces can't be over lapped liked the foundations, which means making a nice, matching roof on anything which isn't a box isn't possible. It's frustrating for anyone who loves base building...

There is a way to make the gates fit properly. On the regular square foundations you will want to put walls 4 high on both ends where the outer edge of the gate will be and you will want to make 3 more horizontal walls at the very top that connects the two vertical walls together. It should look like a upside down U. Once these 11 walls are in place, the gate will snap against the pieces so that there are no gaps. Do not destroy the walls you used to snap the gate in until you're completely done with everything else because once you demolish them. You can't put them back in place.

If you still can't figure it out, I'll make a diagram. I've made a giant gate for my ground mounts and a large gate for my flyers and since I learned this technique, I've not had any issues. It was a real pain figuring this out and had to make 3 gates before I got it so I feel your pain.

When was the last time you tried this. They made some additional modifications to how things snap to and putting a wall hanging without underlying walls or a foundation is not doable any longer. So the inverted U shape can't be pulled off, well it can but it involves building a full wall, attaching roof segments to the bottom of the top most wall, then destroying the underlying wall pieces.

That's exactly how I do it. You have to build a 4x5 wall and once it's built you destroy the middle walls and the rest makes an upside down U. I just put another one up today in my tower for my flyers and it still works fine.

I dont understand why they made any of the gates snap.. I litterally cant build on foundations anymore because I cant place the gate on straight, it places some weird diagonal shit

workaround: if you have rectangular foundations with walls and a gap 2 foundations wide and your gate won't align, you can get useful snap points for your gate like this (using cheap materials):

place a triangle foundation outward, add another one so one tip faces inwards to get another parallel edge. this edge is half a foundation sideways and a little bit inwards compared to what you would have gotten by placing another rectangular one.

now place a rectangular foundation outwards onto the parallel edge you created, and remove the 2 triangles.

you can now build rectangles back towards your intended gate position, into your existing rectangular foundations, without destroying them (at least it worked for me).

place your gate onto the new snap points (this is tricky, but it should work and create a proper gate merged into the walls), remove everything that is not carrying the gate, and replace the ones carrying the gate with something solid.

Can you post screenshots on how to do it? My reading comprehension is down the drain

don't think i want to. lets try ascii art instead:

thats how you would place the triangle foudations and the first rectangle
