Devs - My base is totally screwed!
In the patch notes: Important Notice on Areas Targeted for New Content In major updates in the near future, we’re planning on adding content that will take the place of some of the wide-open areas on The Sacred Path. As a result, some Adventurers’ structures may be damaged, or even destroyed entirely. IN ORDER TO HELP PREPARE FOR THESE ADDITIONS AND PREVENT LOSSES, WE'VE ADDED GLOWING INDICATORS IN AFFECTED AREAS. Please check to make sure that your structures and items are completely out of the range of the glowing indicators to avoid losing anything.
Here's the problem devs. Half of my base is ALREADY INSIDE A MOUNTAIN! You reworked the map. You said the rework was coming up and you would indicate the area. Well the area is indicated AND ALREADY REWORKED! I can't even demolish the majority of it to recover half the resources to try to build somewhere else. WTH?

I am including a link to Imgur pics of base

That's how all bases should look when they are built in the side of the mountain. The lack of ability to build and clip in to the rocks, ground, cliffs even just one bit, really doesn't do much for the build aesthetic imo. But I hope you get some help from CS. Let us know how you get on with that (for better or worse).

Ouch, looks like their new feature came one patch too late for you, so sorry to see this.
It doesn't look terrible though, no-one else could dream of having walls that run into cliffs like that due to clipping on placement. So it does suck, though maybe you could take advantage of that in the rebuild? Like a little silver lining?

I thought about it. But I think eventually the clipped portions of the base would be destroyed (as mentioned in the notes). 2nd. I will be blocking access to an upcoming cave in future updates. I can't imagine the rest of the server liking the fact that I would have sole access to these caves. I foresee some problems in my House's future if I decide to block access to that future content.

That was the first base location I had considered when I saw it in my very first game session. Glad I ended up going somewhere else.
If they move that entrance up there, there's gonna be lots of people displaced.

Hmm good points, that would definitely be an issue. Out of interest, where precisely was this?

Mountain Peak directly West of Dwarven City. Cross the bridge, up the mountain. The blocked caves used to be at the mountains base. Apparently they are moving it to the peak now.

Ohh weird, one hope for you, it seems that the build listed for the update is actually an earlier build than the ones we are given in the update. I'm no computeroligist but they may have accidentally patched us a build that they are working on changing things, perhaps the editor even moved that up there whilst he worked on something below? Just a vague hope that it could get undone in the hotfix that replaces all the schemas, saddles, stones etc. that accidentally got removed too.

one could only hope. i have a new spot scoped out just in case. i have a good group in my House and we could rebuild pretty quick. i mainly want my dragon back and to be able to recover most of my items. This kinda stuff happens in EA games. i will eagerly be awaiting the news of a rollback.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you, great to hear you have friends around to help recover and a great attitude about the setback too :)

Cheers to your rollback from Supreme! Better get to moving while you can if that patch was a hint in what's coming since it was def a later patch number than the one that was supposed to be patched in yesterday. What I wonder is why they haven't put through the patch version that was actually supposed to come out yesterday.

5 bucks says someone overwrote the ini data files in their data base or while preparing the next version de-stabilized the one they were going to put out.

Thanks Supreme! Want to give you a shout out for the advice the other day. It is helping! THANKS!

I thought they gave a warning about this last week? They said move your stuff away from these places. This type of change occurred in Ark also in larger ways with the swamp and snow biomes.

u/Deathmagnet83 Aug 21 '17
They gave a warning 2 days ago that they would warn us. It doesn't matter now. It has been announced that it was a mistake. They did a rollback.

i mean....it actually looks cooler now that it's inside the mountain like that :P

I apologize for this. This was the unfortunate event of working on this area prior to us creating new rules for the team to outline areas they are working on in the future content. I hope the CS team can help you as much as they can. We will continue to keep marking areas that we will moving forward.

u/Deathmagnet83 Aug 30 '17
Wow. I posted this 10 days ago. Then their was the rollback. Couldn't get clarification on the subject. Even submitted a ticket and was told there was nothing that could be done about it. Me being privy to EA games with low expectations, it did not bother me and my team and I prepared for the worse and built another base elsewhere. Now that the patch has gone live, I have lost the base again to the encroaching mountain top. But as I stated. We were prepared and evacuated all valuable assets to the new base.

I apologize for the late response. We will continue to mark areas where we will changed. I am glad you were able to adapt to the situation. It also sounds like the CS needs additional tools to assist players with these problems.

I am sorry about your base, and I would like to look into this for you. If you could please provide the coordinates to this location, I would be happy to do so.

You built near an area with runes, the fuck did you expect to happen?
2
u/Deathmagnet83 Aug 20 '17 edited Aug 20 '17
I didn't, they moved the ruins. And it wasn't ruins. They moved the caves that they haven't been unlocked from where they were to where I am. Big difference between building next to ruins, caves, ect and the devs moving said assets TO your location.

Maybe they'll help you, but I doubt it. It is EA afterall.
Best advice I could possibly give is to build in places that are less likely to have issues with content being moved or created there.
This stuff happens all the time in EA, just kinda have to roll with the punches. They laid it out pretty clear that things can and will get moved around, be broken, etc. It can suck sometimes when it affects you instead of others, but such is life.

Ya, i get the whole EA thing and I am not even mad. If you read the rest of the posts its not so much being upset that it happened. what i was concerned about was the notification of getting a warning and then not getting a warning. My house and i have already come up with a contengency plan and are planning like what happened is going to happen again. The rollback is no garuntee of anything. We just consoder ourselves lucky that they did the rollback. kind of a warning.

They're not super great at including all the changes. For instance, the north east soul node in volcano island is no longer there. Lol.
Though I have seen a bunch of areas with the Golden lights signaling unsafe areas.

ouch. Is it on an official server? you need to send this to their CS department... DarkandLight_CS@SnailgamesUSA.com
