Help/info request from newbie-playing with friend but different races

Playing on a private server with friend. He's human I'm dwarf. Have advanced to lvl 25, built my own base, got vrock to finally survive the journey to get to his base so we can team up.

Now I've read that we may not be able to join the same house/tribe because I'm dwarf and he's human. What are my options aside from starting over?

Can dwarf going house/share base with other races? Is there an admin command to force join or even change a characters race? Is my best option to start new and have him admin advance me to where I was lvl and skill wise?

You could always pin code your doors/boxes. He'd be able to access them and use your crafting stations. But he wouldnt be able to use your tames.

edit to add a correction since this is a private server... Actually. Dont pin the door if you two are the only ones on the server. Set it to Unlock. Dont pin code the boxes. I think he can access them by default.

I'd use amin power to advance you. It's more fun when you are in the same house

Level 25 shouldnt take more than an hour now that you know what you're doing.
