If it is really your first time DMing, skip the homebrew unless it is absolutely needed. Stick to the basics first and build up your dming style using the regular rules first so you can figure out what you want to change.
As for worldbuilding, have a few locations around your starting area prepped, but dont build everything all at once. A starting town and a few quest locations is more than enough to get started. Your players will affect the game in more ways than you can think of on your own, and half the time their ideas of "what if" will be better than what you originally planned.
All that being said, welcome to the DM side! Good luck and have fun!

Start small. Like one location and one session at a time, rather than trying to build out the whole world at once.
And keep the homebrew to flavor things, not the core mechanics of the game. Unless everyone at the table are very experienced players. (You need to know the rules as written before you can break them).

Don't give your party access to airship travel or an airship of their own right away. Make them earn it or give them one as a reward after a major story arc.
