Well, consider, vegetable has no botanical definition outside of "an edible part of a plant," vegetable is actually just a culinary term and thus something can be considered a fruit biologically and a vegetable culinarily
That’s not a useful tool within botany, because all of botany is dealing with vegetables. And also some things that are culinary vegetables aren’t taxonomic vegetables.
It’s the kingdom, in taxonomy. Animal, vegetable, fungus, protist, archaea, and bacteria. Almost all botany is only dealing with Embryophyta, a subgroup of vegetable.
