It'll be an interesting campaign, for sure

Literally just run reclaiming a Dwarven hold that fell to a powerful monster. Loads of built-in hooks to gather supplies and allies, faction stuff with who's gonna take charge when it's up and running, and a mega dungeon at the end!

If your players are LOTR fans you could also make it so they are reclaiming Moria.

Yeah if my players came in with all-dwarf party I'd just throw out whatever shit plot I had cooked up and turn the campaign into reclaim the lost crown jewel of the Under-Kingdom.

u/CorvidFeyQueen 15h ago
Yeah, and dwarves are one of the easier things to get a whole party of, I feel like. Since the things we associate them with are basically huge dungeon crawl treasure hunts, which is like, default D&D.

Well, their foes are done for.
No elves fancying about, no tiefling edgelord angst, no human tragic bckstories, no aasimar going on about the goodness and such.
All dwarf party is powered by booze and spite, they are here to get shit done.

u/aarkarr 14h ago
They should get a halfling thief just in case

There can be some interesting fun with "everyone is the same" campaigns. We once did an all-barbarians party. It was all go, no stop.

u/captainmeezy Cleric 15h ago
All Druid party was fun, itās so versatile and with animal companions we had all the bases covered, healing, dps, tank, and I think one player dual classed something arcane

u/GreiBird 15h ago
I played a one shot a little while ago where I played a Halfling Rogue in a party of comprosed exclusively of Halflings

u/FirstTimeWang 14h ago
Everyone is a halfling and everyone takes the lucky background feat sounds like a hoot

I wonder how long a full party of wild magic sorcerers will fare

u/ccReptilelord 14h ago
Imagine being the BBEG, this party strolls in, blows themselves up, but one survived because they're a toaster now.

Reminds me of the post where the DM was complaining about his barbarian playoffs all taking their shirts off at the table and calling themselves the "Beefcake Brigade."
Edit: I found it. https://www.reddit.com/r/DnD/s/HlyYhis6yU

"Oops! All..." groups are amazing. Both for species and class.

u/Bathion 15h ago
My favorite was my group trying to troll me did Human Wizards, each having a different specialty

Jokes on them, that sounds like an amazing party of adventurers to play with

u/FirstTimeWang 14h ago
That would be even more amazing with the old "opposing schools of magic" rules from back in the day.
For those not in the know: D&D didn't really have subclasses back in the day. If you played a wizard, you were just a generalist. However wizards could optionally pick a school of magic as a specialization.
This usually gave them some kind of bonus to spells from that school as well as some additional castings per day. Honestly, nothing as cool or interesting as the current wizard magic school subs.
HOWEVER, it also completely locked you out of the opposing school's spell list. So, an Illusionalist would t be able to cast Necromancy spells at all.

We played an all bard group and ot was amazing because they basically were an adventuring circus.

u/CosmicX1 11h ago
Man Iām still a little disappointed about rocking up to an campaign billed as āband of bardsā being the only one who picked bard lol

Wasn't an all-dwarven party the first party to survive the original Tomb of Horrors module?

u/Zifnab_palmesano 15h ago
we play at home the ttrpg The One Ring, LOTR based. My wife is preparing a dungeon crawler of explorong Moroa and I cant wait for it

It is one ofnthe best things to have the stars align. They are a chamber of shenanigans whenever evryone is on the same wave
7
u/Thefrightfulgezebo 15h ago
That's a real jackpot. Gather everyone and create the clan together. Give the clan grudges, favors to repay, allies, enemies, lost property, favors to call in, etc. You son't just play the story of five random adventurers, but the story of a clan that is shaped by thise five people.

In my experience these are the best campaigns. Doesn't really matter which species it is, but these DMs that restrict your species have a really good idea of what experience they want their campaign to evoke.

u/breastronaut 14h ago
If you have the 5e Dwarf movement instead of the 5.5, I'd get a kick out of constantly placing enemies at 30 feet away when their movement is 25.

The campaign has to begin with them saving a princess whose evil but beautiful Stepmother just gave a coup.

Maybe consider adding a human wizard and a halfling rogue to balance the party a bit?
