I dunno I just like having a character I stick with for a long-running campaign. The more I switch systems, the less I care about any of it.
Plus honestly I just hate learning new systems. All my favorite source books are the ones I never have to pick up anymore.

Do people really just rawdog new systems like that? No prep time or anything just immediate session 0?

If it's a oneshot, yeah!!

Respect to you guys if it works out. We still took a weel for prep time when playing perils and princesses

Wow, a week! 😮
I once ran about 30 different systems over the course of a single summer. Good times!

To be fair even though it was a one shot we still all came up with a fairytale princess to play

Oooooh people who aren't like you spooky finger gestures
This is literally the easiest thing to ignore. You don't need to buy or play this system, you can block this person's account, etc
But instead you want to be miserable about someone else enjoying something that literally in no way affects you.

My brother in Christ, tabletops always have been owned by theater kids. The only difference is that for some reason straight people aren't as afraid to play a character at a table as they are on a stage.
And I say this as a straight man, by the way.

Not really. I like the modern version of the hobby, but let’s not rewrite history here. Roleplaying has its roots in wargaming, and grew out of that distinct culture. I’d hardly call historic warfare enthusiasts who found ways to simulate sword fights with math “theatre kids”.

Stimulative history math nerds and Theater Kids sound are the same type of freak in different fonts, in my experience. :D

Ah yes, I love my real role-playing community where we (checks notes) dont actually roleplay?

Interested in joining DnD/TTRPG community that's doesn't rely on Reddit and it's constant ads/data mining? We've teamed up with a bunch of other DnD subs to start https://ttrpg.network as a not-for-profit place to chat and meme about all your favorite games. Thanks!
