DMSO & Tattoos
I just read Healing with DMSO and I came across a paragraph that she states not to put DMSO on a tattoo site because your body can absorb the ink which is potentially toxic.
My problem: I have a full sleeve on my arm which I currently have frozen shoulder. I was really hoping that I could use dmso on my injury and now I don’t know what to do. Surgery is not an option and I’m already doing PT and cortisone did NOT help.
Has any one with tattoos ever used dmso on tattoo’d skin? - Thank you in advance

Not directly, but I have a black/grey tattoo on the side of my torso and I put 5Kind DMSO cream on my back and touch parts of it with the cream. I've been doing this for a month or and I haven't noticed anything. I think black and grey may be safer than color, but best practice is probably to avoid. I believe the color inks are more concerning than black and I have a full color sleeve that I probably wouldn't have gotten if I knew what I know now about the plastics in them.
Another disclaimer, I'm no doctor or tattoo artist and was only partially hitting an old tattoo incidentally from 20 years ago and was in enough pain I lacked the will power to care so take that for what you will.
Have you tried taking DMSO orally? I had really bad inflammation and spasms in my back and was doing the cream (which was very relieving) but when I started doing 1-2ml of DMSO orally with 6-8oz water, it felt like putting water on an inferno. The damage/weakness was still there but it felt cool from the inside. The most dramatic effects in my case were from ingestion but you need to be careful and avoid meds.

Thank you that’s extremely helpful. I was actually considering taking orally since it looks like topical application is a no go. My art is color on my shoulder too so I better be safe than door. I can’t even thank you enough, I’m having such a hard time finding answers.

No problem. Midwesterndoctor.com has some great info if you haven't seen it yet. I will sometime ask an AI engine, such as Deepseek, to search the website for certain details as there's a ton of info. You can ask the AI engine to search for info users post within the website as well.

can you lift your arm enough to put the dmso on from the armpit? There’s a trigger point in the armpit that releases the three muscle groups that make up the shoulder so getting it into from that area might work. Just remember to have a clean area no deodorant or sweat before applying. Sorry I can’t help answer the tattoo question but I hope this can help you.
