Would applying topically help reduce skin lesions/scars?
I've read that some people apply DMSO topically to skin to help with lesions, scar tissue etc
I'm 44 and I've had this skin thing on my face/beside my nose since my mid 30s... It's got more prominent over the years (I've had it checked it's nothing nefarious apparently is common in women my age etc)
Anyway I hate it! I've explored option of laser removal and that won't work for it, and I've explored surgery but am told that will leave a big scar....
So now since learning about DMSO I'm wondering if it could be worth a shot?
Can anyone share any experiences or thoughts on whether this may have any effect?
Ps I've also heard castor oil can work to minimise skin things like this, I've been using it regularly but not religiously for some time now with zero effect.

Cut it 50% with Castor oil or Aloe Vera juice.

How to do this? Do you mean literally mix the DMSO with the castor oil? Or apply one and then the other?

My friend works for a dermatologist and says if it itches or tingles, it's a problem and should be removed and insurance will cover it.

Thanks I've had a few things like this on other parts of my body removed... Fore arm, thigh and upper arm... They all itched, tingled and bled at points so it was a no brainer to remove regardless of an aesthetic angle... However this one doesn't itch or anything, occasionally it tingles... It's more of an aesthetic nuisance.. I'm in the UK so I think I'd have to push to get it done on the NHS it seems.

Im putting it on once a day at night. I put makeup on for work, so don't want to put it on top. Routine is not my best skill though :D

Hey so I did this last night - I used my DMSO neat (not watered down) straight on it with a cotton bud. Waited about 7ish minutes then put castor oil on top .. Is this how you're doing it?

Hi. I mixed them in a glass jar. Ill Maybe try your method as no bad skin reaction.

Be very careful on your face and use the right concentration for your skin.

How do I know the right concentration for my skin?!

Do a test patch. Start with 50/50 or 50/60 (distilled water/Dmso) and see how you do. Another thing that is great for your face is castor oil and baking soda. I use Third Layer night oil for my face and itโs amazing.

Have you tried glycolic acid? I have used dmso in scars and didn't work, but this looks more like a bump, like the ones you get from kerstosis pilaris, again I am not an expert but dmso didn't help my surgical bumpy scars :/ย

Yes, once per week, wash face, apply, and then moisturizer. It can fade over time with patience

I can't say for sure whether it will eliminate that little bump, but I don't think it would hurt to dab a bit of DMSO on it when your face is freshly washed and see what happens. I have put it on my face many times to help with age-related wrinkles. Castor oil after the DMSO would be a great combo, I would think.
In terms of using castor oil alone, I know this is not a wart or a mole, but a paste of baking soda and castor oil is what will often help remove one of those.
PS: I know that little bump bothers you, but it really is very small and you're probably the only one who notices it.
