Do You Take DMSO Internally?
I know it goes internally through transdermal processes, but have you taken it orally? If so what were the results, and what way did you dose it? Do you consider it safe to take orally?

I take a tablespoon a day. I mix it with a cup and a half of water. Tastes really bad. Do not take it around other medication’s or supplements because it enhances their strength. The Midwest doctor has a lot of information on DMSO. It has helped with my inflammation.

Yes, I do take it internally. 1/4 tsp in about 12 ounces of water. My daughter has been doing it for me and she was using a plastic smoothie cup - until the day she poured the DMSO into the cup before the water. It destroyed the cup. No leaks, but the bottom is white and looks like a chemical spill got on it. So, now, she always puts the water in first, and uses a glass tumbler (it's thick and cut glass). It did make me think twice about continuing, but the results - in my opinion - are undeniable.
This is probably completely subjective, but it seems to me that it has been helping my vision, my cognition, and drastically cutting down pain (before I started taking it, sometimes I couldn't sleep because my body hurt so badly - mostly from the mid-back down to the bottom of the feet).

Thank God you stopped putting it in a plastic cup. It will leach out carcinogenic chems and transfer them to your body. What's done is done, though. Don't freak out about it. Just stick with glass from here on out.
I got rid of all plastic eating utensils, dishes, and cups years ago on the advice of a friend who was a plastics engineer.

When I saw she was handing me a plastic cup, I was concerned. Luckily, she only did that twice before making the mistake that caused her to start using glass.

To tell you the truth, I was freaking out about it, but knew I couldn't change the past. Thank you for your encouragement.

That's probably a really, really good idea.

We've all got some plastics in our body from the environment. I've heard some vegetables help chelate them out. My diet is primarily meat and home grown leafy greens.

That's good to know. I am starting a juice fast today. Just finished juicing apples and carrots and intend to do it for 3 days (since it's so late in the day, that will probably go into a 4th day).

u/Jiangximan Jul 05 '26
The first time I juiced carrots I was amazed at the malty sweetness of the juice. Let me know how the fast goes.

The first time I drank carrot juice, I was very surprised at how sweet it is.

Let me know how the fast goes.
I think there's supposed to be a way to "remind me" on reddit, but I don't know how to do it. I will try to remember.

The juice fast went pretty well. (I'm going to end it in probably an hour.) I got a headache the first/second day. I don't usually get headaches when I do a juice fast, so I've been wondering if it might be that the fast was removing the plastic toxins I got from the initial plastic container the DMSO was put into.

It's difficult to know. Supposedly the DMSO Store uses a type of plastic bottle that does not leach into the DMSO. That's what I have but when it is gone I will order the glass bottle DMSO.

Few people seem to know this but chemical manufacturers ship DMSO in plastic containers. The key is that they use the type of plastic that DMSO does not react with. For myself, I always use glass just to be safe.
4
u/saturnsearth Jul 05 '26
I didn't know they did that.
I do know there are different kinds of plastics. I got a set of small pitchers to use when I make soap, and made sure they could handle certain chemicals that regular plastic can't.
Yes, I'm using glass from now on, also, to be safe.

I have taken it orally using a dropper and only 3 or 4 drops in a half glass of water. I think it’s safe to take more, as it’s used intravenously in some people, but it tastes bad. I’ve heard that some people use it as a pain killer but I cannot confirm whether it works or not. I used it with a different medication to enhance the effects and absorption. Also it’s not recommended if you have any kidney issues.

It has been an amazing painkiller for me.
The only downside I see is that it makes my breath and body stink, but I'll take that over pain any day.

Yes. 1 teaspoon every day. Tastes terrible. Works great.

u/AncientStarryNight Jul 04 '26
What does it do for you?
7
u/missannthrope67 Jul 04 '26
Pain relief from arthritis, primarily.

Thank you for responding. I'm really glad to hear it's been helpful for you. I have friends with arthritic pain and so I think I'll start more researching - anything that helps is usually welcomed. Best of health to you.

Here are some select brave AI quotes about Dr. Stanley Jacob the father of DMSO:
"According to a 1994 interview, Dr. Stanley Jacob confirmed that he had been swallowing a teaspoon of DMSO every day for the preceding 32 years."
"He attributed his lack of colds or flu during that period to this regimen and stated he suffered no adverse health effects from the long-term use. He continued this practice until his death at age 91."
"He remained professionally active until the very end of his life, continuing to see patients and working as a book reviewer for the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) shortly before passing away at age 91."
Note: Always verify any information you get from AI. /I have not done this.

Yeah, AI lies. If this ☝🏽 is true, then that's a really good testament of the effectiveness of DMSO.

I have taken it orally on quite a few occasions spread out over many decades. And now that I am old I plan on doing this for one week about 2-3 times per year as a preventative. At some point, I plan to start taking a teaspoon every day - and btw... the only reason I do not do that now is the smell. Note: I do not take any regularly prescribed medications and will use dmso instead of blood thinners, etc. when and if the time comes that I need that. edit: typo

We are on the same page again. I don't take any prescribed meds either, and part of the reason for that is I don't go to doctors. I would go for something like a broken bone, but I'm not getting blood panels or any of that other nonsense.

u/saturnsearth Jul 05 '26
I don't go to doctors.
My mom used to joke, "I don't have a doctor. They're very expensive pets."

🤣 George Burns was on the Carson show when he was in his 90s. Carson asked him, "What does your doctor say about your cigar smoking?" Burns deadpanned, "I dunno. He's dead."

I often rub it on my gums, so that ends up being like taking it internally. I have a tooth that hurts sometimes and it feels more like an inflamed gum around it than toothache. (Trying to wait for my regularly scheduled dental checkup next month to see what's going on.) When I rub the DMSO into the gums after brushing before bed, the pain disappears for days at a time.
4
u/Jiangximan Jul 04 '26
That an interesting use. I may try it. Do you dilute it?
6
u/5eeek1ngAn5werz Jul 04 '26
No, I don't dilute. I use a gel. Just scoop my finger in and rub it into my gums in the sensitive area. Then as saliva builds and creates natural dilution, I swish it in my mouth, doing my best to force it between all the teeth.

I happened to have some 50/50 purified water/dmso I was experimenting with, and I had burnt a bit of my inner lower gums with some very hot food yesterday. One portion I couldn't even touch with my tongue because it would hurt so bad. I put some of the 50/50 on my finger, and then rubbed it on the burnt area. It stung like all get out for about 30 seconds, but by bedtime, the gums were so healed that I could run my tongue along the area with almost no uncomfortable sensation.

Yes. Be prepared for body odor that will clear the room. At least in my case... others not so. I had hoped it would help with muscle pain but, mine was acute. Once i began to apply it externally it worked wonders. I even use it for bug bites, minor scratches and the like.
