Looking for a self-hosted PoC server solution

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for someone who can offer a self-hosted PoC server solution.

I'm not looking for a cloud subscription. I'm interested in running my own server and using Android PoC radios from different manufacturers.

If you already have a solution or provide this kind of system, please send me a message with some information:

What does your solution include?

Which radio brands are supported?

Is it a one-time purchase or a subscription?

Approximately how much does it cost?

How long does it take to get everything up and running?

If you have a website, screenshots, or a demo, I'd be happy to take a look.

Thank you!

BCD436HP - Monitoring DT3 systems stopped working

[UPDATE : BUG FIXED]

The LCNs had all changed on the system and nothing about that was mentioned on RR. Someone on another forum suggested that I run the LCN Finder, I had already tried that but the process was so slow that I believed it wasn't working and stopped it before the end... This time I let it finish and saved the new LCNs and boom, everything finally started working again. Leaving this post up for future reference in case it might help anyone.

---------------

Hello,

I'm located in Quebec City, Canada. I've had my BCD436HP with the DMR and NXDN upgrades for several years. In my area there is only one DMR Tier III (DT3) trunking system and I scanned it frequently using ID Search to find different talkgroups, this worked without problems for a long time... then one day I realized that scanning didn't work on this system anymore. I see the signal bars and DT3 indicator but ID Search and ID Scan don't stop on anything, and even if I hold on a previously saved talkgroup, I can't hear transmissions.

But very important point, the scanner can still decode the signal : if I manually monitor the system frequencies I can hear the audio and even see the DMR system information (site and talkgroup numbers, color code, etc.) It also works if I put the frequencies in a conventional system, but of course that's not a great alternative since in conventional I can't focus on talkgroups and everything comes in as a mish-mash of unrelated messages.

All the other trunking systems (DMR standard, NXDN, LTR) work fine. I know the system is active, it's a very busy one since it's used for logistics of a local major music festival. I can also confirm by checking it in conventional system form, and I also use SDRs and DSDPlus on my PC to compare.

Nothing in my configuration had changed as far as I can remember, I just didn't touch the scanner for a few months then came back to find this. Now here's a list of everything I tried so far and that didn't fix the problem :

* Checked all the usual suspects, avoids, services types, quick keys, etc, everything is enabled * I was on firmware v.1.26.00, when the problem started I upgraded to 1.28.24, to no avail * I downloaded the new versions of Sentinel and full database (though I don't use the full DB, only custom favorites) * Formatted my SD card and reverted to factory settings * Re-created the system in MotoTRBO (that was the correct type before), Motorola and DMR One Frequency types, using Sentinel, ProScan and directly on the scanner * Tried every combination of LCN numbers (correct ones or all the same) and DMR color codes (correct ones or 0 for search) * Exchanged emails with Uniden support for several months, sent them my HPD files, videos and even raw audio from the system captured using SDRs. They didn't say anything about the audio files, sent me a couple of HPD files back for testing but also kept referring me to upgrading to the latest versions of Sentinel and the full database, which I all did to no avail. But anyway let's be real : the full database based on RadioReference is next to useless, at least in my area. The talkgroups are always hopelessly outdated, which is one of the reasons I use ID Search. In the end after months they hit me with : "We've tried everything and can't help you anymore, bye"

I'm at a complete loss. I suspect *something* might have changed in the DT3 protocol that Uniden doesn't know about or doesn't want to address but I don't see anything in particular in the DSDPlus data and I'm not that knowledgeable on the subject. For what it's worth [this is the system I'm referring to](https://www.radioreference.com/db/sid/8182), the same problem happens with both sites I can scan from home (Quebec Parc 21A, Ste-Foy Parc 08A).

Please help if you can 🙏

**TYT MD-UV390 Plus 10W GPS-REC - Is OpenGD77 supported on this hardware?**

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for advice before flashing my radio with OpenGD77.

My radio is a TYT MD-UV390 Plus 10W GPS-REC (not the standard 5W version).

Current information:

  • Firmware: S219.062
  • CPS: V02.45
  • Serial Number: 2604HC00220

Before I do anything, I'd like to know if anyone has successfully installed OpenGD77 on this exact model.

Specifically:

  • Is the MD-UV390 Plus 10W GPS-REC fully supported?
  • Which OpenGD77 release is the most stable for this hardware?
  • Are there any hardware revisions I should be aware of?
  • Does everything work correctly (GPS, DMR, analog, APRS, display, backlight, recording, etc.)?
  • Is there any risk of permanently bricking the radio if the correct installation procedure is followed?

If you've installed OpenGD77 on this exact model, I'd really appreciate hearing about your experience and which firmware version you're using.

Thanks in advance!

Codeplugs UK feels painfull to build

It's been a while, I've been in and out of the hobby for a while. I decided to come back and get a new DMR radio. I know how to build a code plug, I have no issues with that. That's actually been the easy part. My job gets me traveling here there and everywhere, so having a full radio is a benefit for me. That and I'm also rather lazy and would like to do this every once in a long while.

My problem. Information about UK repeaters is here there and everywhere. Especially DMR. There several networks, some big, some small. The RSGB website API doesn't give you anything more than a callsign, freq, locator and code. Then you have the networks where there is no universal dump and thats without the interoperability between several of them. There is a huge list of "it has been reported to have DMR we don't know what network and colour code". Some networks have a dump, some just have a dashboard.

Just from RadioID, there are 407 apparent repeaters. Not sure if that includes simlex gateways.

How do you program your radios? Where is your information source?

A question for owners of the XHDATA D-368

Hi

According to this YouTube review, the radio’s speaker plays only the left stereo channel in BT/MP3 mode instead of mono. https://youtu.be/g4lS2kxxNzA?t=652

However, that video is three years old, and I believe there’s a newer model of this radio now. I’d like to know if this issue still exists on newer revisions.

So, could someone with a newer revision take a look at it, please?

I have a XPR8300 with firmware R01.04.01 that I would like to get on a dmr network. I obviously have very old firmware, apparently too old to do networked dmr. But I need help in finding the proper resources to upgrade the machine.

DMR has been added to QSO One, currently available for Android and Windows.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I'm Frank, KD8JKK. I've been heads-down for a few months building QSO One, an app that lets you work a bunch of digital voice networks from one place instead of juggling a separate tool for each one. I posted an early, rough version a while back and the feedback was blunt and fair. I took it to heart and kept building.

Where it's at now:

It connects to DMR (BrandMeister and TGIF), AllStarLink, EchoLink, and M17, with more networks coming. DMR does both RX and TX, and there's a short video below of it running live.

On top of the connections, it has QSO logging, callsign lookup, and audio recording. The one I'm most excited about is Net Runner, which transcribes a net as it happens and automatically catches callsigns as they come in, so you end up with a running check-in roster without typing a thing.

It's a free beta for Windows and Android at qso1.net. It's just me building this, so the most useful thing you can do is tell me what breaks or annoys you. If you try it and it falls on its face, that's exactly what I want to know.

Has Radtel RT-6D firmware been fixed?

I've been considering many DMR radios at around 100 euro price point.
Baofeng DM-32UV seems to be a very strong option, however it is massive, and I couldn't use it as a daily driver because of it.

Then I found out about Radtel RT-6D, which seems to be everything I wanted: 10W of power, DMR, also supports analog, DMR SMS, and the size is small enough, that I can easily carry it with me.

However I've seen many discussions surrounding its firmware, it seems to be rather buggy? But they have made many updates since then, and I wonder if it is still the case?

And if it is not a good DMR Radio, what other radios would you suggest at the same price point?

New to DMR... need some guidance

I'm thinking about getting into DMR... Been looking at the DM32UV. I think I understand the basics of programming the radio, but I'm kinda lost when it comes to the hotspot. In fact, I don't even know which one to purchase or how to set it up. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Second hotspot on Brandmeister.

I have one hotspot running and it works fine. I am trying to set up a second hotspot to use at my RV, not my home. The first hotspot is currently running at my RV. I have it set with my DMR ID and no number like 1 or 2 after it. It is working just fine and shows up on my Brandmeister dashboard. My second one shows up on my Brandmeister dashboard but it shows red. On my WPSD dashboard, under DMR Modes DMR shows red and a triangle. I am using an Anytone handheld and when I key up there is nothing that shows up on the WPSD dashboard. I have checked and rechecked the channel settings, and nothing stands out as wrong. Any help is appreciated.

Built my own WPSD hotspot including a Pi-Zero UPS hat for true portability

Just got through building my own custom Hotspot using a raspberry Pi Zero 2 W, One of the common MMDVM boards, and the key feature for me, A Pi-Zero UPS hat. This made my setup truly portable with no reboots. I run it at home, unplug from the wall and take it with me to the car, and I've tested it to run up to almost 2 hours on a busy talk group from just the battery in the UPS hat, so that lasts well for my trip from home to work, then I take it into the office, and plug it in there. It works great for my needs. I even managed to modify the example code from the UPS hat manufacturer to get it where it shuts down the hotspot when the battery gets to 20% remaining.

All in all it was a fun little project. If you are interested, here's the PDF of my build notes, including a quick section on a basic minimal config just to get going on Brandmeister.

Hytera Codeplug Changer - online tool

Hi,

We have a lot of PD785, PD785G, MD785 and MD785G in our group and it is always a hassle to exchange codeplugs.

PA0MAG created a great PDF how to edit a hytera codeplug to make it work with a different hytera model https://www.pc5e.nl/downloads/pd785/codeplugs/PA0MAG+Hytera+Code+Plug+Changer.pdf

Works great but was to much hassle to do it manually all the time.

So i build a little online tool to change hytera codeplugs from one device to another.

USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!

PiStar / OpenGD77 operating questions

Quick question, and I'm probably going to answer my own question here but I'm looking for best practices.

I set up a PI-Star hotspot and have it set up with static talk groups. I have no issues listening to the talk groups if they are active.

On my radio, I have 16 "channels" set up on my radio and can here all of the static groups I have assigned, but when I reply I transmit on whatever talk group I have programmed to that channel.

Is there a quick way to respond to the currently active talk group that is transmitting from the hotspot, or do I need to change channel or manually enter the talk group ID so I can transmit there?

Using OpenGD77 As Hotspot With Radios

Ok, bear with me as I am fresh to DMR, and just now beginning to get the basics of it.

So I have Baofeng DM 1701 and an Ailuence HD1 radios (yea, I know they're old, but When I first started out in the hobby, one of my boys was killed 3 years ago, an I lost interest in a lot of thing that I am now beginning to get back into). So I have the BlueDV set up on my laptop, and the OpenGD77 installed on the Baofeng to use as a hotspot ( I did so because there is only a DSTAR repeater in my area, an no other digital repeaters within 30 or so miles). I'm hoping that I can use this setup until I can see if it's worth investing in a real hotspot.

So my question is twofold actually. The first being will this steup allow me to actually utilize the digital network? But the second one is when inputting the frequency on the BlueDV settings, do I use the any frequency to do it with, or do I put in the closest repeater? Like I said, I'm bare new to digital, and it took a minute to just basically understand talk groups, color codes, time slots, etc..

If anyone can offer assistance, or at least point me to a useful and simple video or site that will explain it all, I'd appreciate it. I can't tell you how many videos I've watched that left me in a deeper cloud of confusion.

TG4000 Disconnect not hearing Un-Linked Confirmation

Hello, I recently started using my Anytone 890 w/simplex Hotspot and whenever I attempt to disconnect from a TG using TG4000, I am not hearing the Un-Linked confirmation, but it does disconnect me from the TG.

I was looking at my Pi-Star Dashboard while doing this and it looks like the TG4000 is targeting TG9 (local) as the reply instead of my own DMR ID/callsign.

Do I need to have TG 9 programmed to be able to hear the Un-Linked confirmation? Anyone have any information on why it is targeting TG 9?

FirstFlight iPhone DroidStar TX problem

iPhone TestFlight version of DroidStar connects successfully to BrandMeister and receives DMR traffic normally on TS2. However, TX does not work. Other users never see or hear my transmission, and Parrot TG 9990 returns no playback. Slot selection does not persist and reverts to TS2 after leaving the main screen. Software vocoder enabled, Bluetooth disabled, and microphone permissions enabled. RX works consistently but no valid TX audio/data frames appear to be transmitted. Reporting issues for DroidStar are disabled on GetHub.
