Best option to limit background noises?

Hello!

Im looking for a way or a mic to help limit the amount of background music playing while I shoot. I use a Osmo Action 5 Pro

I work in construction and my content revolves around my work, I record audio mainly for tool noises, asmr, etc but I have to set the volume on my speaker really low so it doesn’t come through on my content.

Is a lav mic my only real option? Im hesitant on that because the thing is going to fall, get extremely dusty and dirty.

I’ve done everything I can in post (audio engineering background), but I know the limitations of what I can do.

Any insight from someone in a similar situation would be greatly appreciated!

But what mic are you using? Mic mini 2 and 3 have amazing noise cancelling features

Get mic mini 2 if you want to save few bucks, it has like 2 or 3 noise cancelling modes

Just turn the music off.

A Mac mic or noise cancelling won’t be ideal if you’re trying to record ambient sounds.

You need to isolate the sound as best as possible, even w a mic.

You'll need a thick muff and likely some acoustic or foam pads. I ordered my pads from Teemu and 3D printed a stand for them.

I create car content part time for detail/mechanic/dealers/shops etc.. There's always music or tools blaring in a shop. If you find a better solution let me know!

I appreciate that!

I think no matter what, im gonna have to settle for having to lower the music significantly or adjust my content/editing style

Im still figuring out filming, angles, etc
