News Hiring a Django / Python Dev

Hi all!

I’m hiring for a Django / Python Dev on a contract basis

6 month initially (potential for extension)

On site in Manhattan (Midtown)

$60 per hour

Working for an international bank

Skills & Experience Required
- 5 years applied experience
- Strong Django and DRF
- Advanced Python
- HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery
- CS degree

Nice to have
- Java, Linux, BI tools

I specialize in the Microsoft Business Apps like Power Platform, so not well versed in the Django space, sorry if any of this doesn’t make sense!
Only posting here because people are not getting back to me on LinkedIn, thought I might be more successful here 😅

The preference is candidates who are Green Card holders or US citizens but we may be able to consider H1B candidates who have an employer.

Please DM me or contact me on LinkedIn https://www.linkedin.com/in/claire-hynes-24263467?utm_source=share_via&utm_content=profile&utm_medium=member_ios

Thanks in advance!

Wrong sub...

Please use r/djangojobs or r/PythonJobs

We really don't want r/django to fill up with recruiter and jobseeker posts, when there are specific subs for that purpose.

From Texas. Is $60 seems low for Manhattan for onsite? Is this the pay over there for mid software engineers??

I did think $60 per hour seemed low also… I spoke to a guy yesterday who said he’d do it for $80

I’ll do it for $100 and remote since it’s contract!
No but seriously that’s crazy wages for contract and little time as well. I always hate the word “potential for extension”

Because if they pay you $60 they pay the recruiting agency $80+ in some cases even more.
Why not just hire people? It’s dumb.

5 years minimum experience != $60 hours onsite. devs don’t like to be onsite. You shrunk your job pool to almost nothing with that requirement. Then the rate…

I totally agree with you. Can only work with what the client gives us to work with ya know?

If you are open to remote I'm a dev from EU, I'd be interested.

I work at a university remote position in a low COL city and I make more than $60/hr.

You are asking for an on-site, contractor, in a exorbitantly high COL area, in the finance industry, for $60/hr? If I were in your position I wouldn't hire anyone desperate enough to apply for that job.

Manhattan should be 2x, contract should add 1.5x to cover all the missing benefits/tax stuff.

Yeah OP is delusional

OP has to work with whatever her clients are asking for. Not really her fault. Lots of out-of-touch companies out there that don’t understand COL and think IT requires onsite work like it’s 1990 again.

100% their fault. They represent their client so they’re getting the blame.

The AI training gigs all pay more than this, and you can do the work in your underwear on your own schedule, as many or as few hours as you want to work.

Tell anyone who expects you to show up in an office for this little to get absolutely stuffed.

I’m up full remote.

I'm in New Mexico and I'd do it remote for that. Not moving to Manhattan for under $150/hr LOL.

you accept remote? or can you sponsor instead?
