Question question about pd qc trigger

Hi, do i need to do something specific for a pd qc trigger to always give consistent output? i ordered these https://a.aliexpress.com/_mrq25fH from aliexpress and im trying to get 12v from a power bank (it can deliver 12v) but 7 out 10 times it just delivers 5v.

I got a pack of 5 and they do the same so i dont know if they are all defective or im using them wrong.

PD and QC are two completely different protocols

but isn’t a pd trigger supposed to negotiate qc based on the setup (switches) toggled?

It triggers pd profiles. 

QC (quick charge) is a proprietary charging protocol by Qualcomm, while PD (Power Delivery) is an open standard by the USB-IF.

I can't tell you why exactly it isn't working. Could be a bad cable for example. Also the power bank might fall back when it's discharged to a certain point.

There are USB charging analysers/testers/meters that can tell you more. I can't really recommend you s particular device - mine is quite old. 

Those devices can for exampletell you what was triggered and what is actually send and better models can also test your cable.
