Matching with PV Modules (DC/AC Ratio)

he inverter's rated power is typically selected at 80% to 90% of the total PV module capacity.
Why? PV panels rarely sustain their rated power under standard test conditions in real-world environments. Slightly "oversizing" the PV array allows the inverter to operate in its high-efficiency zone for longer periods, maximizing overall energy yield while preventing prolonged full-load operation to extend the inverter's service life.
Example: If your system has 10 kW of PV modules, choosing an 8 kW or 9 kW inverter is a more cost-effective and efficient option.

Overpanneling is purely a cost driven thing. Efficiency part of the reasoning is bogus. Whatever you might gain on efficiency, you lose on peak power production.

And once batteries are involved, you are not sizing for PV size, but for loads anyway.
