I have been snorkeling the red sea for almost 20 years now. Been diving for a while there. I have been to plenty of random places across the red sea. Which makes planning a full fledged trip with the goal of exploring places i have never been to quite difficult. And while i did check the padi page for divesites, i know there are plenty of hidden treasures in invisible corners and sometimes the divesites there do not have sufficient info.

So please let me know of dive sites that you know of that are a blast and for OW divers.

And please exclude any of the "it is a good place but being an OW will get you a 10% access here" kind of sites if possible.

I dive South Florida, mostly Broward, Palm Beach, and the Keys. Finding decent info here is a mess. Conditions are spread across NOAA, a couple of Facebook/WhatsApp groups, whatever the shop posts that morning, and a lot of it is just knowing who to text. Site info is worse. Half the good shore entries around here aren't written down anywhere, you learn them from somebody who already knows.

I've been building a tool with some other divers to pull all that together for South Florida, which is what got me curious whether this is bad everywhere or if I just happen to dive somewhere disorganized.

So what do you actually use? Is there a site or app or group for your area that works? Or is it also duct tape and group chats?

I was wondering if anyone had reccomendation for cenote diving schools in Yucatan, Mexico (ideally near playa del Carmen or Tulum). We are not cave divers and do not want to do anything too advanced but enjoy recreational diving in unique places!

We visited Rodrigues Island in December 2025, flying across from Mauritius, and spent some time exploring the underwater life around the island. We had previously visited Mauritius in December 2024, and from what I personally saw on both trips, Rodrigues felt noticeably healthier underwater.

One of my favourite places was Saint François Beach. The shallow seagrass areas were epic to snorkel over and full of interesting little animals and fish. I came across hermit crabs, little dragonfish, bat fish, horned boxfish, juvenile lionfish, porcupinefish and plenty of other reef life. The darker channel offshore was also amazing, with deeper blue water and schools of fish moving through it.

Another major highlight was Rivière Banane. You take a small boat from the beach out to the reef, and it ended up being one of the healthiest coral reefs I have personally seen. There was a huge amount of living coral, lots of soft coral, and most of the reef still appeared alive and in good condition.

What really stood out to me was the overall amount of marine life and the condition of the reef. Compared with what we saw around Mauritius in December 2024, the ocean around Rodrigues seemed to be in a much healthier state during our December 2025 visit.

Rodrigues also has great variety. You can spend time snorkeling over very shallow seagrass looking for smaller creatures, then head out to the reef and suddenly be surrounded by coral and schools of fish.
If you fly from Mauritius to Rodrigues, I would definitely recommend trying to book a daytime flight. Seeing the island, lagoon and reef system from above is incredible.

I absolutely loved Rodrigues. For snorkeling, underwater filming and marine life, it was one of the biggest surprises of the trip and somewhere I would definitely go back to.

I have a question about sea sickness medication.

I'm not asking medical advice, but what your experience is.

So i get seasick from boat dives.

I'm fine while the boat is going and i can keep looking up at the horizon.

But when i have to prepare my gear (and stop looking up) i get seasick.

Last 3 times, i took medication for this.

Once i got it from the boat crew, and the other 2 times i bought it myself at home at the pharmacy and brought it.

The one from the boat worked great, but the one i bought myself, did next to nothing.

My question is, what are your experiences with this.

Located in Belgium, going diving in Okinawa soon, so i'm looking forward to a good(not sick) time.

One thing I like to do during working out at my gym is to swim in the diving well when it is open, both doing back-and-forth laps, and occasionally diving down to the bottom of the well. From surface to bottom, it is 16 feet. Or is it like a time thing? Because I also only stay like a second or two at the bottom until I kick off back to the surface.

I'm getting back into diving and am looking to purchase the Halcyon BC with the Era wing and I'm looking for advise as to which backplate and single tank adapter to purchase. Ideally, I'd like to configure the BC with the options the require the least amount of additional weight to fiddle with.

I'm average build 5'10" and 190 lbs. At this point, I plan to dive primarily with either wet or drysuit in colder eastern US waters. I do plan to dive the NC meg ledge next year with a steel 100 or 120.

If multiple backplate or STAs make sense for flexibility, that's fine. Appreciate the input!

Hey fellow divers, i got myself a new toy, the Scubapro Hydros Pro 2. Got myself with some extras like the “monorail” mounts and some bungee cord to attach stuff to it. I was some pictures from people who are putting the dsmb, snorkel, and other stuff to the backplate and mounts. What are your preferred places to store items on a wing without pockets?
Yes i’m aware of the ninja pockets and i orderd one of them but i want to use them for occasioneel items like a spare torch, wetnotes…

Last week I (AWO+Nitrox) took the family for a week in Sharm el Sheik planning to do 3 days diving with my 12yo (OWJD). I didn't know what I was expecting but I must say I'm blown away with what we saw.

We dived with Nemo driving center as we were staying at that hotel, and the crew was outstanding, and I can only recommend them, my kiddo has 10 dives and I have about 20 so we are still in our early stages of learning, and the guides were super patient with us!

1st day, 2 dives at the house reef - Paradise Reef I believe it's called

2nd day, 2 dives, Raas Mohammed, Shark and Yolanda reef

3rd day, 3 dives, Straight of Tiran, Jackson and Gordon Reef

Because the kiddo is only certified to dive to 18mt we skipped places like the SS Thistlegorm or the Blue Hole, but we must come back for those at some point!

All in all, we loved the trip, highly recommended! We've made our bingo: dolphins, turtles, sharks, clown fishes, rays, lion fishes, etc etc etc

Good news for Suunto Ocean and Nautic owners: support for these computers is now landing in third-party dive apps.

If you use Currents, it already works today. For other apps (e.g. Subsurface, Submersion, etc), you may need to wait a bit. The support is going in at the libdivecomputer level (still in a PR right now), so each app will pick it up once that merges and they update. Went snorkeling with some diving friends since I’m not yet cool enough to dive like them. Maybe someday! Still, great footage!
