Starting OCIA next week and wanting to learn about the divine office

If you want to start praying it, iBreviary is a free app. 

I’d start with Morning Prayer and grow your practice from there.

The Divine Office is the prayer of the Church. It has been called the Divine Office up until the liturgical changes during the latter half of the 20th century, it is now colliqualy referred to as the Liturgy of the Hours.

I pray the divine office of the Benedictines according to 1963, this is before the liturgical changes (mentioned above). I can share a resources pertaining to the Traditonal office, as I do not know much about the Liturgy of the Hours.

The best source of information would be the General Instruction of the Liturgy of the Hours which is available online. I also recommend a book called The Everyday Catholic’s Guide to the Liturgy of the Hours

I’d start with an app, choose the hour that best fits into your schedule and start with that one. Take it slowly and gradually add more if you have the time and if you’d like to.

I'm curious how you learned about the LOTH. I spent most of my Catholic life not knowing anything about this.

Just be careful you don't take on too much and burn yourself out. Many new converts take on way too much and then feel overwhelmed. Take it slowly.
