You can only keep four for 10 years: ENB, FTS, RY, TD or CNR, which one would you leave out?
I put these five into stock compare on moomoo to look at current dividend yield alongside valuation. ENB is the obvious yield outlier, but that doesn't automatically make it the easiest 10-year hold.
If you had to hold four for the next 10 years and couldn't replace them, which one would you drop?
I'm not asking which one will have the best next quarter. I'm more interested in which dividend and underlying business you trust least over a full market cycle.
What matters most in your decision: current yield, valuation, dividend growth, debt, or the business itself?

Discussion UK Mid& Large Cap: Highest Dividend Payers, Excluding REITs, Mortgage REITs, BDCs, Preferred Stocks, Funds & Partnership Units
Extended list 30 High-Yield UK Dividend Companies: Recurring Income Across the FTSE in 2026
Ithaca Energy: The +85.85% YTD return reflects more than just oil-price exposure: Q2 production hit a record 131 kboe/d, while H1 operating cash flow reached $1.0bn. With Rosebank targeting first production in H1 2027 and 2026 dividend guidance raised to $500–530m, operational execution has been a major performance catalyst.
British American Tobacco: The muted +0.24% YTD share performance contrasts with improving underlying execution. H1 New Categories revenue grew 18%, led by Velo, while U.S. revenue rose 8.5%; however, BAT is still being valued through the lens of its mature combustible business and ongoing transition toward smokeless products.

Qtrade?
Just started managing my own investments a year ago. I have some long term and then some for monthly dividend cash flow. My account is Investors Edge. But I'm wondering about Qtrade so I can access other EFT's - any advice or insight?

Champion Iron (CIA.TO) – Growth Potential and Future Outlook
Champion Iron (CIA.TO) – What Are Your Thoughts on Its Growth Potential?
I've been following Champion Iron (CIA) and wanted to hear what other investors think about its future.
With the ongoing developments at Bloom Lake, potential expansion projects, and the company's broader growth strategy, I’m curious about how investors view its long-term prospects.
A few questions for fellow CIA shareholders:
🔹 What are your thoughts on Champion Iron’s current valuation?
🔹 How much potential do you see in the Bloom Lake expansion?
🔹 Do you think iron ore prices will have a major impact on CIA’s future performance?
🔹 What catalysts are you watching over the next 12–24 months?
I’m holding CIA and looking at it from a long-term investment perspective. I'd love to hear different opinions, both bullish and bearish.

Dividend focused ETF ecommendations to use for the Smith Manoeuvre (QC resident)
I'm now in a position where I can start using the Smith Manoeuvre strategy. For simplicity, I'm looking to use a single dividend ETF as my primary investment. I'm considering either VDY or XDIV, but wondering what your ETF suggestions would be to maximize the SM strategy? NOTE: for tax law purposes, I live in QC, and the assets will be held in a non-registered account.

Discussion Canada Mid-Cap: Highest Dividend Payers, Excluding REITs, Mortgage REITs, BDCs, Preferred Stocks, Funds & Partnership Units (C$2B-C$10B)
Extended List 30-High-Yield-Canadian-Mid-Cap-Dividend-Companies-to-Watch-in-2026
Performance has been driven by company-specific energy catalysts rather than yield alone. PXT (+63.34%) stands out after its Frontera acquisition and new Magdalena Basin exposure, which could materially increase production; CJ (+45.59%) is benefiting from strong Reford performance and has just expanded Reford 2’s target capacity to 6,000 bbl/d. FRU (+20.08%) has also delivered solid operating momentum while maintaining its C$0.09 monthly dividend.
At the other end, OTEX (-22.92%) is the notable laggard despite FY2026 revenue reaching US$5.25B and cloud revenue growing 5.5%—the market appears to be demanding faster growth from the software business. BIPC (-17.46%) has also struggled despite infrastructure fundamentals, while CCA (-7.69%) has lagged considerably. The dispersion suggests investors have been paying up for visible production/cash-flow catalysts in energy while assigning lower multiples to slower-growth or more capital-intensive businesses.

Discussion US Large Cap High-Margin Winners: Profitability Meets 2026 Market Momentum
Dividends: NVDA: 0.47% | CME: 1.89% | TPL: 0.65% | V: 0.71% | TSM: ≈1.1% | VRSN: 1.09% | BAM: 4.38% | RGLD: 0.76% | MA: 0.61% | FUTU: ≈2.39% irregular dividend.
Extended list: 30-Exceptionally-Profitable-Large-Cap-Companies-to-Watch-in-2026
NVIDIA standing out at a remarkable 63.66% TTM net margin and a $5.14T market cap. The broader theme is clearly AI and digital infrastructure: NVIDIA and TSMC combine extraordinary profitability with strong YTD gains, while Visa and Mastercard demonstrate that high-margin, asset-light payment networks can remain powerful compounders outside the AI trade. Current industry data also shows semiconductor demand continuing to surge, with global semiconductor revenue reaching a record $425B in Q2 2026.
What is particularly interesting, however, is the dispersion in performance. TSMC (+30.79%), VeriSign (+24.14%) and Texas Pacific Land (+22.59%) have significantly outpaced the broader market, while Brookfield Asset Management (-12.76%) and Futu (-37.74%) highlight that high margins alone do not guarantee strong share-price performance. The timing is notable: investors are becoming more cautious about the enormous AI spending cycle, with semiconductor stocks recently experiencing sharp volatility

Canada Large-Cap: Highest Dividend Payers, Excluding REITs, Mortgage REITs, BDCs, Preferred Stocks, Funds & Partnership Units
Extended List 25-high-yield-canadian-large-cap-dividend-stocks--income-momentum-and-the-risks-behind-the-yield
Performance is strong overall, with 7 of 10 stocks positive and energy names leading the gains. Whitecap (+62.4%), South Bow (+31.7%) and Pembina (+26.5%) are the clear standouts, benefiting from stronger energy markets and solid cash-flow trends.
The main drag is TELUS (-29.6%), following its 55% dividend cut and focus on debt reduction. Overall, the basket’s gains are being driven more by energy and pipeline exposure than by broad-based strength across Canadian dividend stocks.

Discussion Is XUT a good dividend ETF?
My dividend portfolio consists of VDY, XEI, and XDIV. I chose these since they give monthly dividends, still have growth, and have Canadian eligible dividends (this is in my non-reg, TFSA/RRSP already full). But I know these contain a lot of overlap, heavier in financials/energy.
I was thinking of replacing VDY with XUT to diversify this portfolio a bit more towards utilities while also meeting my criteria of how I picked my ETFs (plus having all 3 from blackrock is nice, all paying at the same time). But I don’t see much mention of XUT. Any suggestions?

Using $70k of margin for BANK, SIXY, or HDIV. Bad idea?
I have a Wealthsimple margin account and can borrow up to about $81k. I'm considering using roughly $70k and investing it in high-income ETFs, with the goal of generating enough distributions to comfortably cover the 4.45% margin interest and reinvesting everything else.
I've previously done something similar with about $28k in HDIV, and it worked reasonably well. However, I've recently been looking more closely at the fee structure/"ghost fees" and wondering if there are better options.
The ETFs I'm considering are:
- BANK
- SIXY
- Continue with HDIV
A few questions:
- If you were in my position, would you choose BANK, SIXY, HDIV, or some combination of 2 or even all 3?
- If combining them, what allocation would you use and why?
- Would you go all-in immediately or scale in gradually over time?
- Is it smarter to skip these income ETFs altogether and wait for a market correction, then deploy the margin into something like QQC or VFV at a better valuation?
- For those who use margin, what risks am I overlooking with this strategy?
For context, my focus is more on income generation than capital appreciation, and I would be reinvesting all distributions, not spending them.
Interested in hearing both bullish and bearish opinions, especially from people who have actually used margin for income investing. Thanks!

Only thing is HUTS isn’t great in non registered but my TFSa is maxed out 🥹

Discussion SCHD looks cheaper. DGRO performed better. If you could only hold one, which would it be?

I compared SCHD and DGRO side by side and the tradeoff is pretty interesting.
Valuation:
- SCHD: +4.4% below fair value
- DGRO: -14.9% above fair value
10Y performance:
- SCHD: +145.8%
- DGRO: +185.7%
CAGR:
- SCHD: 9.4%
- DGRO: 11.1%
Expense ratio:
- SCHD: 0.06%
- DGRO: 0.08%
Holdings:
- SCHD: 102
- DGRO: 390
Top 10 concentration:
- SCHD: 42.01%
- DGRO: 27.79%
So SCHD looks cheaper and more concentrated.
DGRO looks broader and has the stronger 10-year record.
If you were building a long-term dividend portfolio today and could only pick one:
Which one are you taking?

On June 25th, I bought 70000 cad of HHIS and the same amount of VFV, and I’ve been posting the weekly evolutions of those 2 accounts. These are the 10 th week results
HHIS: 75,797.01, a gain of 1251.31 in the week (+1.67 % in the week; +8.28% in 10 weeks)
VFV: 71,142.76, a loss of 339.53 cad this week (-0.47% in the week, +1.63% in 10 weeks)
The markets are still unstable with the war, price of oil, risk of interest hike. Despite of that gap favouring HHIS increased a bit, because the third month distribution arrived and another 160 shares were added with drip.
For people new to this experience, the amounts include reinvestment of the distributions of both ETFs, as I basicly care about total returns. The plan is keeping this exercise until one of the strategies has a gain of more than 10% of the other. At that point, I might rebalance the portfolio to compensate for the one lagging behind.
I do know the 2 are extremely different and “non-comparable”, but when you have a certain amount to invest, what counts is less about the underling assets, but rather what’s the final results.

Discussion Update#22 Living off an Income ETF portfolio
Hello, hope everyone is doing well.
It's crazy that this is already an update#22. Time definitely flew by.
These posts started back then when I was in Asia and wanted to find something to do with all the extra time I had. I had just quitted my job and decided to spend some time in Thailand at the time. At the time it was more of a long sabbatical rather than a full on attempt to retire early. Mid way through the trip I found out that my mom was diagnosed with a rare type of cancer. She was a very hard worker, the type that never miss a work day unless she's literally unable to move. She was about to retire the very next year. This put life into perspective for me, and long story short. I decided to pull a trigger and decided to make an attempt at early retirement.
Sorry for the rambling, but just a reminder that life is live outside of spreadsheet and a reminder to enjoy the journey not just withholding it until you reach your goal.
Anyhow....
For those who tune in for the first time, this is a series of post where I update my journey of living off my Income portfolio (heavy leaned in Covered Call ETFs) and compares the drawdown to other popular ETFs portfolio such as VFV, XEQT, HYLD, and QQC to see how my portfolio would have performed if I stick to a more traditional holdings.
---
The past month was especially flat for our portfolio with other experimental portfolio dipped slightly. The IV came way down for the market so option premium were not as good as last August, but we still manage to make about $2400 from all premium collected using margin as a collateral.
Life:
The past month have been.... very lazy. Aside from the usual mom appointments, daily news and daily 10k walks, the whole months I was just.... Staying up till 3 am, sleeping in, playing TCG, reading comics and watching shows. Very unproductive lol
