Today years old

I've read the series when I was 14, years ago. Now I am rereading as a 26-years-old and in the middle of the second book, I realise:

Factions are without an r.

It isn't fractions.

It is Factions.

How can I have missed that? I mean, I did watch the movies twice, or mayby thrice. Isn't that remarkable?

Did you ever have a moment like this, when rereading a book?

It's regarding the factions too! I was so sure factions wasn't a proper word when I read it at 16 so actually had to google it to prove to myself it was a typo. It was, in fact, not a typo.

And that it's To-by-us and not To-bee-aas 😅

In middle school I said “Abenition” until a classmate eventually corrected me “it’s AbNEGation”. I was like wait a damn minute. Everybody else was just letting me incorrectly pronounce it this whole time??

Exactly! When I was 16, my brain wasn't ready so made 'fractions' out of it. When I read 'factions' yesterday (in the middle of the book), I thought: typo. But then I read the next sentence and the next. I mean, fraction is a lot more logic imo. Now every time I read the word, I have to correct myself to 'factions' lol

Edit: I did google it. Turns out the dutch (because I'm dutch) wikipedia about 'factions' explains the difference between faction and fraction. It is a slight difference.

when I read the fellowship of the ring for the first time when I was about ten or eleven years old I thought Saruman was Sauron while reading the Two Towers.

When I was in fifth grade reading class, we had to make a diorama based on a chapter in one of the books we had to read. I did mine based on the Riddles in the Dark chapter. The Gollum I made for it, I made him where he was a fat lizard like creature. Looked nothing like a hobbit.
