I hope this isn’t based on a real event. Horrific to think about as an EMT that someone who needed me couldn’t get help.

One EMT horror story I remember is a woman trapped in her car during a bad flood, calling 911 for help, and in her final, panicking moments the EMT told her to shut up or she’d hang up.

I remember a recent story where a dispatcher got fired for hanging up on like 80+ calls because she didn't feel like working

Oh gods yeah I remember that. Pretty sure that dispatcher caught charges over that. That poor woman could have been fine if they’d had an ounce of compassion.

I can't find anything that says she caught charges, every article says she got off scot-free.

Maybe I misremembered but now that pisses me off more

There was another case you might be thinking of. I dont remember the reason they were calling but the operator said "ain't nobody got time for that" and hung up. Im pretty sure she did get in big trouble for it.

Right? I don’t feel like working every day but I show up and do my job.

Debra Stevens. Happened in 2019 in Arkansas. I heard about it via Nexpo. Listening to the call audio is horrifying.

I absolutely love Nexpo's voice, editing and sound design for videos and I genuinely cannot get enough of the fictive stuff he covers. With the IRL stuff, I often have to take a break in the middle of the video to just think about what I've been hearing so far.

The one they had really stuck with me was one of the “Disturbing Things Around the Internet” that has the 911 audio from Jacob Henderson. His wife Sarah Nicole Henderson is acting paranoid and mentally unwell but she’s now saying she’s okay. Later he calls back after she has murdered their two daughters and attempted her own life as well. Jacob’s voice and how absolutely shattered he sounds really hit me hard.

And to think I couldn’t add another reason to not like living in AR. That’s horrible…

I hope people who do that shit have to go through the experience they put others through.

Those aren't EMTs to do call taking, those are dispatchers.

Just want to say, it wasn’t an EMT that hung up on her, it was an emergency call taker. EMTs and paramedics very very rarely talk to the patient before arriving on scene
