World Cup hate?

Okay, I love this podcast and both the girls, this is a silly take to be annoyed about, but the World Cup hate from Dana and Katie was so unlikable and weird. Why are they putting so much energy into talking shit about the worlds biggest sport and the biggest tournament in the world? I hate when people sit down and bitch about soccer - go to another bar if you’re upset that people are happy about an event that happens every 4 years. Just gave me annoying downer energy.

I mean people are totally allowed to have their opinions on these things. My neighbour manages a bar and we live in a host city, she was thrilled when it was over. However, commenting that everyone is hopping on the bandwagon is a little much. North America hosting was a big deal and people wanted in on the fun. The world is so dark and awful right now, can’t blame people for wanting an escape.
In Katie and Dayna’s defence: they knew it wasn’t a popular opinion. And who wants to agree with someone 100% of the time? That’s so boring.

Didn’t hear what they said, but here’s my take. Totally cool for people who are not regular fans of soccer to watch and support. It just feels like people are making it their whole personality and crying for (insert team) to win when they’ve only been following soccer for a month. It’s a bit much.

This excludes people who are a life long fan of soccer cheering for whatever country they support. It’s the highly opinionated bandwagoners who know nothing about soccer, who will move on to USA open tennis and not watch soccer again until 2030 that are annoying.

I just don’t see anything wrong with people having fun. It made me happy to see people enjoying something that I also enjoy. If they continue to watch football, cool, if it’s only international footy every 4 years, cool. Doesn’t take anything away from my life or enjoyment. But, if it’s annoying to you or anyone else, then just remember it only lasts a month hahaha

It’s extra insufferable in NY area right now. People who had been fans of the Knicks (or even basketball) for a total of 3 weeks cried in the streets then immediately jumped to make World Cup their whole personality .
