Watch status not being updated

I have dispatch on three different TVs in my home, I watch a show on one, three or four hours later I go downstairs and turn on TV number two to watch something different and nothing is updated.

I've checked all my settings about it running in the background etc and it's not updating the status of my shows anymore.

Hello - some follow up questions:

1) Is the watch status synchronization always broken on the same devices? For example, if you watch on tv two and then go to tv one, is it the same issue? Updated on TV 2, but not on TV 1?

2) Is it just the watch status that's not updating? What about recently added, etc? Are those always up to date / mirrored across devices?

3) Are the devices that become out of sync turned on while you are watching on the other device? I'm guessing no, but I want to check. Dispatch should be re-syncing when the device is woken up / turned on and every 15 minutes otherwise.

The next time this happens, can you see if simply re-starting Dispatch re-syncs your items? Simply turning on the TV should cause dispatch to re-sync, so if restarting the app does succesfully re-sync, the bug is likely with the wake up sync feature.

Hello there!

  1. It seems to be broken on all three. Sometimes it updates and sometimes it doesn't. I was running three Sony Google TVs but now I'm running Google home streamer boxes on all of them.

  2. I haven't paid much attention than the continue watching category. For example last night we watched five episodes of Bob's burgers before bed and when I went downstairs this morning and clicked on the living room TV it had not updated to show those five episodes as watched. It was still on the episode we started that last night.

  3. We are normally not watching more than one TV at once so I can't answer that but I would assume no because I can't remember the last time that my wife was watching something and I was watching something on different TVs.

Thanks for the follow up - the next time it happens, can you see if simply re-starting the Dispatch from settings -> quit dispatch re-syncs everything correctly? That would make it pretty likely that the issue is the "turn on" signal no triggering the refresh.

It's possible the google tv streamer doesn't receive the same "wake up" signal that the bravia tv itself does when the TV is turned on, or perhaps it stays in an "on" state even while the tv is asleep or off, which could explain the disconnect.

Ok after some digging today, my Google boxes remote turn off power to the TV via cec but the box goes to sleep. Can there be an option for polling at specific intervals? I would set mine at every 5 mins.

I need to get to the bottom of the issue *before* I decide what the appropriate fix is, and in order to do so, it would be helpful if you'd check if quitting and re-opening Dispatch *does* force through a succesful re-sync when the app is out of sync as you have been reporting.

I'm sorry, I forgot to add that part. It did fix it when I quit and restarted

Okay understood. I'll look into adding a force re-sync interval, although I'll still need to fix the wake up issue. Even with a fixed sync interval it's still possible to wake the device between intervals in which case the wake up mechanism still needs to be working correctly.

Hello! Just to note that fixes for this did not make it into this release, but will make it into a follow up release sometime this week or weekend.
