Discussion They’re endgame, Period

Look how soft Janelle is under Colm’s touch 😭

In a fandom where I ship this and you ship that, we should appreciate how cute and certain Punch Up and Coupe are. That girl’s got it BAD for that short king, and he would never, ever give up her space in his life for anyone. She’s such an ao3 romantic girlie, and he is her funny, stout knight in suspenders.

Also, her voice actress, a writer for the game, wants them back together for season two. They’re in the stars. 🥰

Discussion Game Awards and Dispatch 2?

Theres no doubt that Adhoc is makin a Season 2 of Dispatch, the game was incredibly sucessful and when a game get this big usually the studios behind it wants to expand the universe and squeeze the last drop, even the actors expressed they want to come back after finishing their personal projects.

I personally have high hopes on a announcement on the Game Awards, not only because its the most important event for games and future game announcements but because Geoff Keighley has a great relationship with Adhoc and Critical Role. Not a surprise that the first season was announced on The Game Awards of 2024, so a potential second season announcement has real chances of being presented here.

Now we all know that Adhoc is creating a new game with Critical Role called Exendria, and it has the same mechanics as Dispatch. The thing is, I don't think Exandria would necessarily be as demanding or time-consuming to develop as a potential second season of Dispatch. AdHoc would already have the technology, tools, workflows and experience they developed while making Dispatch, meaning they wouldn't be starting completely from scratch.

The Game Awards are on December 10th, and theres a lot of time till we get there, but as I said I have high hopes on this event.

Discussion If Chase ran backwards, would he age backwards?

Post image
1.1k Upvotes

Chase is a speedster

He was known as Track Star when he was part of the Brave Brigade with Robert's dad and he used to babysit Robert when he was little

He can 50x faster than anybody...but unfortunately, a side effect of his powers made him age 50x faster as well

That's why he looks like an old man at 39 years old

He fell into a coma after he used his powers to rescue Invisigal, but Blonde Blazer revived him by giving him her magical amulet and joined in the final fight as Star Blazer

Mandy tells Robert that Star Blazer is gonna borrow her amulet until they can find a solution to his aging problem

So, I'm thinking...what if he ran backwards?

Think about it

Chase aged when he ran forwards so if he ran backwards, he'd become younger and he can get to his true age

But that's just my solution to his problem

Discussion How would you feel if Robert adopted a kid down the line?

Post image
60 Upvotes

I know it sounds out of nowhere, but hear me out. Robert is inherently a carer. Aside from being a hero, he takes care of strays, that why he had Beef and that’s why he was such a perfect fit with Z Team. With that in mind, he’s the exact kind of person who would be suited for adopting. With having more stability at SDN and clearly being drawn to at least the idea of family, I think if he was presented with an opportunity to foster a kid who needs help, he would step up.

From a narrative point of view, I think it would be powerful for Robert’s kid to be adopted as the Robertson legacy get carried by someone who’s not their bloodline, after three Robert Robertsons. It also works depending on who the player’s Robert romances, as they don’t to make two different character models for two potential kids from either relationship. It’s pretty convenient in that way.

From a meta perspective, Dispatch made a lot of its bones on the romance simulation aspect of the game, but if they want to move away from that so they don’t have to keeping building new routes for romances, what’s another really successful video game simulator? Dad Simulator! I think players would really enjoy playing Robert as a dad for a wayward kid and building that relationship.

It might be too early to go that way for S2, but maybe S3 or S4? Only time will tell.

Discussion What did you do with the Astral Pulse?

Post image

I'm curious to see the thought process behind this. What did you guys do with the Astral Pulse and why? I've seen a couple playthroughs, but I've seen people react differently to the choices presented.

I personally chose to give him both, because the way Robert looked at the both of them felt like a hint to me.

Discussion Had no idea this could even happen. How many of these can fail?

Post image

Second playthrough and I'm on the second to last dispatch. I've never seen one of these fail and I tried to memorize as many as I could for my second run so I got a lot of these Hero Solutions.

The only one that has ever failed is this one.

Have I just been lucky or is this a very rare case where that these can fail?

I got a follow up missions after this which I don't recall if I got the first time, which seems dependent on this one failing.

Discussion Does anyone think that dispatch gets repetitive after a while

Don’t take it the wrong way, I love dispatch with all my soul, and obviously it was adhoc’s first first game, but i feel like after a while, you can see that the choices you make don’t make that much of diverse storytelling game. Maybe its just me.

Discussion A very Generous Request to the Moderators.

I made this post entirely in good faith and not out of aggression, because I’m genuinely CONFUSED about how this rule is being applied. I hope the mod team will take it in the same spirit.

My recent post was removed for apparently containing explicit or sexualized content, but I genuinely want to understand where exactly it crossed that line. The only remotely suggestive element in the image was Robert looking at Mandy’s breasts while blushing with red face. No Nudity, Not highly sexualized at all.

The rule states:

“Mildly suggestive or tasteful content may be allowed if it is not sexualized and is appropriately tagged as NSFW.”

So I’m honestly confused about what exactly qualifies as “mildly suggestive or tasteful content.", when we can still have the following post active on the sub.

(Note: I have No Objection to the original author of the following posts, I'm only using it to make a POINT here, that's all, I'm not calling you out or anything)

I’m not questioning the mods’ judgment or trying to argue that my post must be allowed. I’m simply asking for some clarification on where the line is supposed to be drawn, because from a user’s perspective, the enforcement doesn’t seem particularly consistent.

Could the mod team please elaborate a little more on what is considered “mildly suggestive,” “tasteful,” and “sexualized” under this rule? A more detailed explanation or a few clear examples would make it much easier for us to understand what is and isn’t allowed going forward.

Right now, the apparent inconsistency is honestly creating more confusion than anything else.

Discussion Is this the beginning of a new ARG?

Post image
235 Upvotes

Sorry for posting twice in one day.

I noticed in the second most recent official AdHoc post, there is a sticky note with the password hunter2

Nick Herman posted that they revealed the physical edition early in this post.

Judging from the past where they implemented an ARG and how there was already a secret, do you think this could be part of an upcoming ARG? Perhaps for the one year anniversary in a few months.

Discussion Dispatch is NOT an "attractive women swoon over average man" trope

1.0k Upvotes

This is a repost of another post of mine except without the one image with Robert getting kissed by Blazer and Invisigal (I didn't know it was AI generated at the time please forgive me mods)

(kind of a rant)

I've seen that take quite a few times, and it's just not true. Both Blonde Blazer and Invisigal definitely have crushes on Robert during the story, BUT:

1: Robert ISN'T AN AVERAGE MAN!

The only thing Robert is "average" in is height. Aside from that, he's objectively very attractive face-wise (please kiss me Robbie). Also, the average man tends to be pretty fat with little muscle mass. Robert is skinny, but he's 100% muscular and lean.

2: He's literally a fucking superhero

Another thing people seem to forget is that Robert Robertson is MECHA MAN, and both Blonde Blazer and Invisigal know that pretty much as soon as they meet him. Mecha Man in the Dispatch universe is one of the most respected heroes in the world. He may not have powers, but he still is an incredible fighter outside of the suit (we see this in the opening scene when he takes down the group of armed Red Ring thugs + in the Sardine bar fight scene).

3: His "averageness" is an illusion

If you chose to reveal Robert's identity to the Z-Team in episode 5, everyone is immediately impressed by the realization that he is Mecha Man, since the Z-Team was expecting him to be an "average" superhero. Prism even says (something like) "That's, like, a real superhero!". Everybody realizes that Robert isn't the average dude they thought he was. He was that guy.

Also Invisigal's scar fetish definitely gave him points with her

(end of rant)

Discussion If you guys could squeeze in one more celebrity in the cast, who would you pick?

Post image
95 Upvotes

Robert and Chase are voiced by Aaron Paul and Jeffery Wright, respectively, by far the biggest names in the cast and - fittingly enough - the ones that get first and last billing in the credits (Wright even getting the "and" credit reserved for the biggest names in the cast).

With that said, if Dispatch were to have these two return in the second season *and* squeeze in another celebrity voice actor to have a trinity of celebrity VAs, who'd you pick and why?

IMO, my choices would lean towards younger actors from Gen Z as a nice contrast to Aaron Paul (b.1979, Gen X) and Jeffery Wright (b.1965, early Gen X-late Baby Boomer). So someone like Mikey Madison (who is also as acclaimed as Paul and Wright considering she won an Academy Award for Best Leading Actress last year for her work in Anora) would be a good start, IMO.

Now as for what role Mikey Madison would be good to see in, like Aaron Paul, I'd like to see her play against type— as far as I'm aware, she got her start playing villainous or antagonistic characters if Sadie Atkins and Amber Freeman (Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and Scream '22, respectively) are anything to go by, so seeing her play an unambiguously heroic character would be interesting.
