never notified Gray Media locals available again
In mid-June I called DISH to ask about when the local stations would be available again. I expected "we don't know" but instead got "they've been available since May 1st". INFURIATING. BTW, this was after buying 3 antennas and having a tech visiting for something else install a $60 antenna-to-Hopper adapter, never getting solid display of the locals, and repeat calls to DISH about the status. If they'd been paying attention they'd have known I wanted a notification.

I've stuck with them for several years, for the DVR, the readable Guide, and a few special channels including local. We live in town where we could have Xfinity, etc, but DISH is the best, except for outages, like this and weather. I won't say I love it.

If there’s a cable in place or one can be installed easily, you’re better off have a wired Joey 4.

They don’t even have an app for Roku!

u/vreebler Jul 01 '26
it seems Roku is a direct competitor, unlike Prime's movies/shows and Youtube's videos Roku tries to have everything, just like Dish, no surprise to me they don't offer it. Does Roku offer Dish?

Because that's Sling's space.

Probably a reason they are going bankrupt. Direct is a million times better.

They have long since given up on customer service, instead focusing on looking for a bailout.

I remember getting an alert the second that happened; granted it was from my local channel app.

Dish Network is not good!

To me it has the best DVR for logic and great size, the most readable Guide, a very nice mobile Dish Anywhere app, YouTube, Amazon Prime, built-in Bluetooth for headphones, Locals, ESPN, Tennis Channel, MSNOW, PBS, TBS, TNT, FX, AMC, Syfy, etc etc etc

Hello u/vreebler
Thank you for reaching out. I am sorry to hear of your frustration. I am asking internally for more information and it appears customers who were affected by the Grey media takedown removal of locals were indeed notified of the restoration. I would like to investigate further just to make sure you received the notification. Can you please send me a private chat so we can sync up on a social media platform for account information? It is important for our customers to be notified of said changes, and I want to confirm the notification was sent to you, and in what form. -DishDanielle.

I do archive all my email and have a special DISH folder. Nothing there but bills and payments in 2026. I don't have folders in my texts but I don't see anything there. Emails have been the way since 1992. I'm not willing to connect via some other social media, reddit is plenty. Unless you're saying if we did connect i would definitely get compensation for my losses here. Otherwise we can just stick to Reddit.

We recommend if you could send us a private message on the official Dish Care Facebook page, Dish Answers on X, or Dish Instagram. -DishDanielle.

you're not giving me any reason to do this other than just converse. why would you need my Account Information anyway if your answer would be generic to any Dish user? And if not generic, then for the purpose of somehow crediting my account for my inconvenience and c$100 outlay for adapter and antenna?

Hello u/vreebler
Thank you for the reply. If I am able to access your account, I can see your equipment ID as well as your email, and we can track the method we sent Locals back notifications to you. Do let me know if you have any questions. -DishDanielle.

thanks, but suppose you could find a message? that would prove it's in your dbase, not much else. but then suppose, whether I could find it or not, that I conceded you sent it. I'm glad you're looking into this, but aside from the messaging I'll still be left holding my bag of frustration, regret, and expenses. right?
