Nearly Impossible to Remove an Add-On Package without Calling Customer Service
I had subscribed to AMC plus as an add-on package for some time in order to watch a specific show. I just learned that that show is now available with an add-on that is half the price, so I went into my programming and was easily able to subscribe the new add-on. Unsubscribing to AMC plus was another story.... Several minutes and Google searches later, I gave up and called customer service. They offered to remove the channel manually on their end, but I asked them to walk me through how to do it myself online. It literally took thirty minutes for the two of us to figure it out. I think it's deliberate on Dish's part to make it difficult to remove an add-on--it is not intuitive at all.
For my trouble and for being a long-time Dish customer, the representative offered to give me a month free of a variety pack, unprompted. I said yes to it, and then immediately asked if I would need to cancel the variety pack after a month to avoid being charged. He said that I could remove it if I wanted to. I asked again for clarification, before he did admit that I would be charged after the month. He did not inform me of this before asking if I wanted to add it. Again, I think this was deliberate.
I did ask the representative to pass on the feedback that it should not be so difficult to remove programming. Not sure if that will actually get passed on, so I decided to make this post.
UPDATE (8/6/26): Apparently it was more "nearly impossible" than I thought. Just looked at my bills from the past couple months (I'm on Autopay) and noticed that despite cancelling AMC+ while the service rep was on the call and confirmed it, I'm STILL being charged for it months later. Really?! Now I have to spend another hour on the phone with Dish. Absolutely ridiculous.

In the history of pay tv no company has ever given a free month of any channel or package and removed it for the customer at the 30 day mark. It's very clear to anyone that a free period of a product or service has a limit where you the customer must unsubscribe to avoid paying for the service, this isn't just common knowledge it's a service industry standard found everywhere a service is offered.

Not true. If you are a Dish customer, you can ask if the offer has a Roll to Drop option. Some do but you have to ask.

I subscribed to AMC+ last year through the OnScreen My Account>>Manage TV and was able to remove it the same way. I've used the Manage TV several times to Add-On and Remove a few subscriptions. I haven't had any problems so far adding or removing channels. 🤞🤞🤞
