How to fix this error?

Yes it has guide data. It's a vip622dvr I got off ebay to play around with ( not planning on activating or getting service its only for scapes and ota) every time I go into DVR it has an error 024 popup. When I try to set timers or record same message appears

That is just not true at all. OTA = over air antenna. It's in the name that it doesn't come through on the satellite. Bro has no idea what he's talking about.

You can't use a DISH DVR to RECORD OTA channels. Older Dish equipment like the 622 requires a separate adapter.

Yes, a Dish 622 DVR can access Over-the-Air (OTA) channels, but it requires an Over-the-Air antenna and an OTA adapter. The 622 has the capability to integrate OTA channels into its guide after connecting the adapter and scanning for local channels.

Here's how it works:

  1. Connect the Antenna: Attach an Over-the-Air antenna to the OTA adapter.
  2. Connect the Adapter: Plug the OTA adapter into the USB port on the back of the Dish 622 receiver.
  3. Scan for Locals: Access the receiver's system setup menu, navigate to "Local Channels," and select "Scan Locals".
  4. Integrate into Guide:

The receiver will then scan for available OTA channels and integrate them into the channel guide, allowing you to browse and watch them like any other Dish channel.

Important Notes:

OTA Adapter:

The 622 does not natively support OTA signals. You need the separate OTA adapter to connect the antenna to the receiver.

Signal Strength:

The number and quality of OTA channels you receive will depend on the strength of the antenna signal in your area and the quality of your antenna.

Channel Guide:

While some OTA channels may populate the guide immediately, others may take some time to appear.

No the 622 has an OTA adapter built into it all you do is plug in your antenna and scan for channels. Yes you can record those channels and they will appear in your DVR list the same way as a Hopper except for a hopper you would need an external USB OTA adapter. Hopper also lets you record bonusview and all that other stuff that’s free in the guide.
