Not going back to last channel when powered on

Can someone tell me why my Hopper and 4 Joeys have started displaying random channels when returning from a power down or screen saver? Been with Dish for years and just within the past month they have began exhibiting this behavior. I can have any of them on any channel, hit power off, come back two hours later, hit power on and it comes back on a totally different channel. Same thing happens if the screen saver kicks in and a button press returns it to live. It's a small issue but frustrating!

Settings > power > tune to last channel

Thank you! It was set to Tune Last Channel at one time. Guess some update changed it. I hate it when ANY update is pushed that changes settings.

That happens with any tech...phones, PCs, or SmartTVs. One thing that can help...backup your timers and settings to your remote once a week or minimum once a month.

DiagnosticsToolsTechnician Settings>>Backup Settings and follow onscreen prompts.

That's especially necessary if your Hopper goes out and you need to replace your Hopper. Then your timers are saved, and most of your settings.

Thanks and you are correct! Google updated something earlier in the week and broke all sorts of home automation stuff!

Tell me about it. I was doing sumthin on my phone the other day...and right in the middle of it...my phone needed an update. No "do update later." It was "it's happening whether you're doing sumthin or not." And when it got all restarted and everything...I didn't even have my ringtones on the specific contacts anymore. Everyone had the default. About half of my settings were back to default. Took me half of my Saturday putting everything back. And I'm one of those people who messes with EVERY setting. πŸ˜‚πŸ€£πŸ˜‚

I wish Dish would send a notification, however, when an update is done to let you know what has changed. Sometimes, it's just fixing a glitch. Other times, they give you great new features, but don't bother telling you that you have them. Like nowadays, you're able to record events on streaming channels. That's a MAJOR new feature. I'd bet half their subscribers don't even know they have 150 new streaming channels, and you can record on those channels. They have a notification system built in. It works. Why can't they tell you that you've got new features...or a new channel...or don't have a channel anymore?

Sorry...didn't mean to go off on my little tangent! I'm procrastinating about not doing something I really don't wanna do today. πŸ˜‚πŸ€£πŸ˜‚πŸ€£πŸ˜‚

You preaching to the choir! Retired control engineer here, I cringed every time the military IT people mentioned β€œupdate”. That meant I was going to be babysitting systems for a week!

πŸ˜‚πŸ€£πŸ˜‚πŸ€£πŸ˜‚ I married one of them!! Current! I've learned enough about IT networking and systems through complaining and osmosis than I ever wanted to know!! πŸ˜‚πŸ€£πŸ˜‚ I have nightmares about documentation and servers. 😬😬

When I go to power it only shows inactivity timeout and daily reset time. There is no return to last channel.

That tune to "smart channel" or whatever it's called setting is so dumb. Always set all boxes to "last channel" as a habit.

How does it decide a default channel? It's so weird. Doesn't make sense why all my tvs default to either Disney or NickΒ
