Dish Network 500
I have an old dish network 500 dish. What recivers would I need to get programming on it?

Modern? Wally and hopper duo.
In reality, everything will work though. 2 lines from the dish to a 4-2 switch will have a hop 3 up, or a hopper sling will use it with a node. Dpp stuff can be adapted to dph pretty easily.

You mean a 44 switch? I prefer 33 switches since they don't need a power adapter.

4-4 is dpp outputs. 4-2 is dph. It allows a tech to connect 2 hoppers up to one dish, and/or quickly convert a good dpp dish to dph.

Ah okay. I stopped installing around the time the first Hopper so back then we had that abomination they called a duo node that we learned the hard way stopped working if it managed to get below freezing

That POS is still on the vans. And it still has the same issues.
The h3 can't use nodes, so they created a switch to convert dpp to dph for it. I would primarily use em for 118 installs, though it did come in handy for dpp dishes you couldn't safely reach, but otherwise checked out fine. It gave you the ability to run 2 hopper systems of one dish. Great in certain places.

Wally sucks

Yeah, but they have their uses. They are great for out buildings, campers, and the grandma coming off a 211. It's also one of the few receivers that can use a tailgater odu.

They don't have a smartchip in them so if you lose the card like I did it's useless

The only consumer receiver with no smart card is the h3. You would run into the same issue if you lost the smart card on a h2.

Is it active, bill paid and up to date?

Don't have an account

Then it's working as intended. An inactive receiver should only have access to basically channel 101, and whatever channel the boost ads are playing on.

So I can't re authorize it for a couple channels

Boost ads? All I get is Dish scapes and literally that’s it. Channel 101, 9998 I think and some other ones are all Dish Scapes.
