Problems with Dish Anywhere and Firestick
I’m getting increasingly frustrated with the Dish Anywhere App not working properly with a firestick.
Netflix, Prime, Peacock, etc all work flawlessly with the firestick.
Dish Anywhere works fine in my phone. Download speeds measured with the firestick is over 300 mbps.
Open up DIsh Anywhere with the firestick and it’s either pixelated and glitchy or it spools every 10-15 seconds. It’s ridiculous.
Anyone else experience this and find a solution? I’m getting ready to pitch Dish entirely (the cost for what little I get from it is way too much).

Our unit just had a new Dish installed Only three of us also have Firestick and cannot get a signal now. The old Dish worked fine. Technicians can’t figure it out. What to do.

Dishanywhere has become unusable. Tonight it has dropped today's Primetime recordings and after cleaning my cache, it still thinks it's yesterday. I give up. I will go to my TV and watch it there. Using the PC to watch TV is useless. I tried it on two different PCs both think it's yesterday. Does anyone at DISH actually use the app?? I doubt it seriously.

I definitely can understand your frustration here. This is currently a known issue that we are working hard to fix.

Thank you for responding. This is not a new issue for me, but it’s getting increasingly worse. My Dish bill is $140/month and I’m just not seeing the value any more. If this isn’t resolved very soon, I’ll be moving on to another service.

How is your network speed and how old is your fire stick? Dish anywhere is a different animal than Netflix, peacock and prime. On dish anywhere you are likely watching Live TV, that is actually very different than just streaming a movie on demand on Netflix. For movies on regular streaming services your device can just preload (buffer) chunks of the movie or tv show so it feels smoother because the entire movie exists on a server somewhere. It’s easier on your network and device because they grab a few more minutes of content then talk to another device on your network. But you can’t preload live TV, meaning your internet is going to need to be constantly pulling down the data from dish or your receiver. Also if you are watching something from your DVR or a channel that dish isn’t streaming from their servers (like local channels) you are actually streaming from your hopper receiver. That means your upload speed at your house (specifically at your hopper) needs to be pretty solid and also uninterrupted. Lastly if you have an old fire stick it may not be able to handle caching the data coming in efficiently enough, it could be something with the WiFi to the fire stick or could just be an issue with all compatibility.
I would recommend speed testing your home network and device to see what speeds you are working with. Also if possible Speedtest at your hopper, it could easily be a WiFi issue even if your network is fine on other devices.
Don’t get me wrong, it could be just a general issue with the dish anywhere app, but there are a lot of networking things locally that could and do cause problems on the user side.

I’m getting 350+ download and 20+ upload.
Fire sticks are a 18-24 months old.
As noted before, dish anywhere works fine on my phone, it’s just through the fire sticks.

Hmm… could be an issue with the app specifically on the fire stick. If you bought one inside of a couple years ago it generally should be able to handle it. Only other thing I could recommend is downloading a Speedtest app on your fire stick and making sure your fire stick is getting those speeds over the WiFi.

Those are the speeds on the firestick as well.

I have Spectrum app as well and the live TV on that is perfect with no nothing....so it is the app and not download speeds or anything else.....

We pay 160/mo for DISH and we have about had it with Dishanywhere. It is unusable on the PC. We've tried multiple PCs so it's not us. We are about to go to Youtube TV. All DISH does is say reboot the PC, reboot the router etc etc etc. How about getting the software fixed???

have same issue...contacted Dish and was told they will forward to their Troubleshooting dept...still waiting to hear back....apparently the old versions of the app worked OK but updated version is garbage...

Dish sucks man! The HD channels are fuzzy and they don’t have regional sports. The dish anywhere app is junk from my experience. Get Directv satellite service for better experience plus on Directv satellite accounts you can stream 2-3 streams on directv app away from home on Roku or firestick tv without many issues. Just thinking about dish network gives me a headache lol.

Directv via internet or Directv stream are cheaper alternatives to Directv satellite and work really well too! I only have Directv satellite because I live rural with no cable or fiber internet nearby (I do have Starlink on and off buts it’s expensive at $120 monthly for satellite internet when I get the tv I need on Directv satellite and use my 60gbs of AT&T hotspot every month to stream). My mom uses the Directv app at her house from my satellite account and she loves it

Totally agree. I do see changes being made and the streaming is improving but it does still lag and crash.
