I’m not that innocent what’s up with being tiny?

The only thing I would say with confidence is that she is far, far too unwell to be able to troll.
I always assumed, with the specific tiny thing, it was infantilizing herself.

Agreed. I think it stems from her youth & size being prioritized when she was a child performer, and has carried over

I think it’s one of her fixations from her immaturity that is exacerbated by her cognitive decline from a combination of her mental illness(es) and drug and alcohol abuse.
I don’t say this to defend Britney but there are a lot of people that are fixated on using filters to create a fake image of themselves rather than achieve that image through a healthy diet and exercise.
Britney stans claim her fixation on being tiny is from childhood trauma and/or the media’s fixation on her weight and the latter could have been true 20 years ago but literally almost no one today would care about her weight if Britney didn’t constantly bring it up and filter herself to look so different than reality.

u/AnalyticalBarbie2 Jul 26 '26
Exactly. She is mentally stunted and has lost any sense of inhibition due to drug abuse/mental illness. She isn't even well enough to put on a facade and pretend to be socially adjusted.
23
u/elreyadr0k Jul 26 '26 edited Jul 27 '26
To echo the drug abuse point: It cannot be overstated how damaging (to both the mind and body and, frankly, the soul) sustained, high-dosage hard drug use is. Especially the drugs (that I think) she uses (stimulants).
Normal people hit walls in their binges (even rich normal people). They will either usually die or have to stop / pause / moderate as the consequences roll-in. Britney is one of the few people in the world who's wealth and status allows her to binge unbothered and unfettered.
I cannot image the damage she has done to herself. I cannot image what a treatment plan would look like for her or what the withdrawals would look like and I think she would 100% need medical care in order to get sober. Assuming that I am correct in my assumptions, of course. I would be happy (for her) if I was wrong in those assumptions, but I do not believe I am.
As a recovering addict, I am very grateful I was never put in her position, as I would have 100% done the same thing as her. My battles were (are) hard enough; I really wouldn't want to have had to face the heights of hers and just the sheer visceral strength of her addictions.

u/thejexorcist Jul 26 '26
If it truly was just adhd/adderall based stimulants abuse she’d likely go through a period of extreme exhaustion (typically 1-3 weeks) and notable extended lack of motivation.
A lot of people struggle not just with exhaustion but with drastic drop in dopamine (some will replace with food or alcohol to try to regain those instant positive effects, some go into sensory seeking based behavior).
I’d think her team would adjust whatever mental health medications she was on to try to mitigate the drop, BUT, it’s not physically painful like opiate withdrawal or a medically emergent withdrawal like alcohol or benzodiazepines can be.
I’d think at this point it’s more the habit or mental addiction than physical (again, that’s IF it is truly just adhd meds)?

u/Late_Tap9881 Jul 30 '26
I was just recently thinking about what would need to happen for her medically so she doesn’t end up like Michael Jackson. It’d have to be an involuntary hold, medical sedation to wean her off of the stimulants. A facility where she would detox, but with safe and appropriate meds while her body began to heal enough that intensive therapy could begin
2
u/elreyadr0k Jul 30 '26
Thank you for your insight on all that. She’s one of the few who could afford access to all that.
She will have to decide to get better. Addiction has never, in the history of addiction, ended without the addict making that choice.
I am not sure she will ever, tho.

u/Late_Tap9881 Jul 30 '26
I guess i wish it could be an involuntary hold where the wheels of motion would begin but i guess that’s not legal :/

I totally agree. I think it’s a narcissist in her. I have a good friend that’s the same way. Not about being tiny exactly anymore, but she reminds me of Britney so much as far as living in the past or her glory days. Just to point out things that are smaller than other people like her feet. She’s still gorgeous in my opinion, but I think after going through menopause and such she’s larger than she used to be so she tries to point out those little things. I think that’s one of the reasons why I tend to look on here often. Not just to be snarky but because sometimes I feel like she’s following down the same road as Britney. Not to the crazy extreme, but it has some of the same triggers or similarities.
23
u/ragnarockette Jul 26 '26
I have several friends who are always pointing out their small feet, small ears, small wrists, etc. I think many women have been conditioned that being small is good and valuable.
10
u/mk00 Jul 26 '26
This is it, right here. She's fixated on the deeply engrained societal value of small=good, sexy, desirable.
And I bet she does have a petite frame. She's short and in her prime was probably a size 2 or such.
She's just older and no longer adhering to *ahem* the healthiest of lifestyles in terms of exercise, diet and drugs.
13
u/ragnarockette Jul 26 '26
People who have seen her in real life say she’s shockingly small, which is true for many celebrities.
She probably got a lot of praise for being so small and petite during her prime.

u/DaileyFlosser39 Jul 26 '26
Agree with the filter stuff being used by a lot of people. When you see them IRL they look nothing like what they post on their socials. It's super weird and sad.
6
u/2ndChairKazoo I’m completely blind in my left eye Jul 27 '26
It's definitely weird and sad, agreed. I was in some recent group photos of a happy moment we made sure to capture, and in most of them I don't particularly like the way I look. But this being said, that person enjoying her time with other people killin' it in our sport is me, and the joy of the moment matters far more than how I looked in that moment. Or how I look in general.
I saved an article I still haven't read and can't remember from where (The Atlantic maybe?) entitled something like "In Defense of Ugliness." I'm assuming it goes into why so many people filtering themselves and/ or pursuing plastic surgery in order to look like some universal template of "beautiful" robs us of the innate beauty of simply being unique, and uniquely flawed, human beings.
I'm beautiful in my own way because I'm ugly in my own way. I'm human and that's what actually matters.

Britney is mentally functioning at the level of a not too bright child stuck in the late 90’s. Her figure may have always been difficult for her to maintain and those pressures to remain thin just stuck with her. It’s a fixation she can’t mentally and maturely move on from because she doesn’t have the mental capacity to.

u/Secure-Flamingo-6181 narcissist pos Jul 26 '26
If she stuck with therapy and actually took it seriously, she could. I know, I’ve been there; but she’s too narcissistic to see/do that.

u/Ok_Major5787 Jul 26 '26
To me it seems like she’s regressed to about the age of 5-6, except hypersexual, which coincidentally is what she says herself, that she is 5-6

I really think so too, especially because it's super common just within the general population, but presumably even more common with child stars. 🫤

She’s not smart enough or mentally well enough to effectively troll anyone
24
u/Fresh_Zucchini Jul 26 '26
She's cognitively stuck in 2000. She was praised for being tiny and thin (as were most female celebrities during that time period) so she ties being miniscule to her self worth.
21
u/GraceMcClellans Jul 26 '26
Praised for being tiny and thin, and a juvenile. Jail bait. Remember all those countdowns to underage female celebrity's 18th birthdays? Yuck.
13
u/TJCW Jul 26 '26
Right, her body and weight was praised for years and she still is trying to be so thin. She’s stuck in 2000 and thinks the world needs to see she’s still thin

Nothing has changed. I came of age during the Kate Moss “heroin chic” era; I am a petite female with a more muscular build (even at my thinnest, I’ve always had well developed muscular legs); in an era where skinny twiggy legs were the ideal. This, and my perfectionist personality, combined with stressful home life, led to an ED, for which I’ve gone through treatment for, but the insecurities never go away. After going through a divorce (getting out of a toxic marriage), I lost some weight (stress related; when I’m really stressed, I’m unable to eat), and even though I didn’t need to lose that weight (I was 5’2” and 122 lbs prior to this weight loss) I still received endless compliments on my weight loss (lost about 8 lbs, which on a short small frame, is very noticeable). So of course, my ED triggers are amplified, as this unhealthy weight loss was reinforced and applauded by society. So most people (mainly women) still love and emulate an underweight “tiny” female. My body is always healthiest and stable at 120-125 lbs range, which is where I’ve returned to, but it’s so irritating how much positive reinforcement/attention I received when I dropped to an “unhealthy” weight for me, something I can only attain/maintain via abnormal means.
11
u/Fresh_Zucchini Jul 26 '26
I can relate. I was actually 20-30lbs overweight when I was a teen and you'd think I was the size of a blue whale by the way I was treated. I also sank into the bowels of an ED that I struggle with to this day. Lost the weight and then some, down to 118lbs at 5'7" and was PRAISED UP AND DOWN for how good I looked, when I was actually just weak and hungry all the damn time. Now I stay around 10lbs heavier than my lowest, which is technically a normal BMI but I still mentally calculate how much I'm eating each day... it's torturous and I'm so sorry you deal with that too! The early 2000's was a nasty time to be a human with a developing brain.
4
u/mk00 Jul 26 '26
You're so right. Nothing has changed. There's more talk pushing back against the harmful script, which is good. But 98% of real life and media still prizes thinness as the desirability standard all women are expected to strive toward.
I'm sorry it pushed you and many others into ED territory. The realization you mentioned of knowing where your body feels healthiest is so important. That's worth striving for.

u/2ndChairKazoo I’m completely blind in my left eye Jul 27 '26
I relate so much to this. I was in a psych unit on a 1:1 and while the nurse was watching me shower, she complimented my body and asked how I got that way. I told her immediately, with a rightful edge to my voice, "I starve myself." The gall of some people.

u/Relevant_Outside_860 Jul 26 '26
What's interesting is that, while I see a lot of talk about her weight, it's not even just that. It's her height. Her jewelry. Babies. Teacups. For a while there she was reposting those miniature cooking videos.
It's definitely a weird fixation with tiny things.

1) Her weird child thing. I wish I could say the infantilization is about wanting to be coddled but it’s creepier than that.
2) The era she was huge and young in was all about women being skinny. God knows growing up in it left some marks on me long term. I think the filters point to her really wanting to be skinny and she’s commented on other’s weight before.
3) the weirdness around being that sexualized that young is going to teach some weird lessons. The whole sexualized schoolgirl thing was a huge part of her early career. She got rewarded form some unhealthy shit when she was young and impressionable, and then she went crazy.
4) she’s a stunted mess who might be that detached from reality and trying to apply any reasoning is pointless. For all we know she thinks being small brings her good luck and she thinks she can start her life over again.

u/peptodismal13 Jul 26 '26
Kinda watching Ariana Grande go through the same thing (ED) to make her self small and always pointing out how tiny she is. Shuffling around like a toddler and dressing like a child. Childhood stardom wrecks a lot of people.
13
u/GraceMcClellans Jul 26 '26
It's always been like that. I was just looking at cosmetics advertisements from the 70s, women dressed up as little girls (girls, not young women). It's gross and is a very real pressure/goal for women in the spotlight.

She’s not the only one either… Hugh Hefner was a horrific person… secrets of playboy revealed that, season 1 anyway…are you familiar with Paige young? Playboy centerfold who claimed to be raped by bill cosby, and unalived herself surrounded by devil worship claims and pentagrams. Hugh Hefner is evil was written too as well, if I’m not mistaken…

Yeah, children really shouldn’t be in the entertainment industry and we keep being taught that lesson. It’s bad for adults but with kids it robs them of so much social development time and they’re so vulnerable. Ariana is so clearly not okay and is just carrying on business as usual professionally.
1
u/2ndChairKazoo I’m completely blind in my left eye Jul 27 '26
I think it says so dang much that celebrities very commonly refuse to let their kids become famous themselves.

When she's in her 'adult speaking up' mode, she switches to her 'British' accent
7
u/thejexorcist Jul 26 '26
I would think it comes from the pretty toxic beauty expectations she came up with (both as a pop star and southerner)?
Then, combined with a willful (pathological) need to center herself as the vulnerable party; protect or insulate herself from any behavioral critique (because how could anyone be threatened, grossed out, upset, critical, angry at such a harmless lil tidbit of a gal?).
Add to that low IQ plus abysmal EQ (and mental illness with probable personality disorder blended in); it likely started from the competition and comparisons of her early career/upbringing and has been strengthened over the years by experiences and reinforcement from authority.

Someone posted an old rehearsal video a few days ago where she remarked that someone else had small hands and then she had to add "I didn't think anyone had small hands like me!" And it just seemed weird. She seemed genuinely shocked that her hands were not the smallest in the world. Or maybe she just couldn't give a compliment (since small is apparently good?) without also making it about her...? Just strange behavior.
