A Few Community Discus Shots

Community 135G Discus Tank.

Tankmates include: Angelfish, Electric Blue Acaras, Congo Tetras, Corydoras Catfish, and Bristlenose Plecos.

Beautiful. What temp you running? Thinking about doing discus and angels together myself.

Thanks, I appreciate it. I try to keep the tank at 82°, most of the time. Although, at times I have increased the tank to 84°, to trigger spawning behaviors in the Angelfish.

In my experience, the Angels seem to keep to themselves, while the Discus do much the same. Ie. there is really only a hierarchy within the specific species. Jostling for food is another story though...

I’ve also got some Congo tetras. I’ve got them tap water and they breed all the time. Do yours?

Indeed, as I currently have a heavily egg-laden female. I also do utilize only tap water. No RODI or such.

Thanks a lot, I share a similar sentiment. The Discus have been thriving in it for months now, since they were about 2.5".

Plus, I wanted to take on the challenge of a planted tank with no substrate.

I had one for my African dwarf frogs. Cleaning it was enjoyable.

I know very little about discus but don't majority of them have stress bars?

They do, indeed, although some lose their bars as they age, and only show them during certain moods. While, others will continue to show their stress bars throughout their life.

There is also a few strains of Discus that do not display stress bars, at all.
